Follow-up 10/2/2020: I stopped in here again the other day for an item I really needed quickly. Just in going into the store, locating the item, and checking out, I saw TWO employees wearing masks improperly, with the nose uncovered. It would be comical if it weren't so dangerous. Weis Markets has NO interest in customer or employee health. NO other store I have been to as I've shopped around for a better grocery store has had this problem, and that includes Wegman's, Safeway, Giant, and Common Market.
Original review: My family has been primarily shopping at this location for decades.
In recent months, I have observed Weis employees at this store needlessly risk customer health. I have observed employees removing their masks, sliding their masks down below their nose, and standing in close proximity to customers and other employees.
I was putting my groceries in my car when an employee came up and stood inches away from me offering to put my cart back for me. He had no mask on.
I have observed employees standing at the ends of their lines when they didn't have customers, removing their masks and chatting, feet away from where customers must pass to get out of the store.
I have observed employee meetings where groups of 6 or 8 employees stand in a circle, blocking an aisle, many with masks pulled down.
I have reported this type of behavior several times now, including calling and being assured that a manager would call me back. No one has, and the behavior continues.
The last time I visited was the last straw. A store employee came up right next to me as I stood in the pharmacy aisles looking at mouthwashes. She had her mask pulled all the way down, not covering either her mouth or nose. She reached and selected something off the shelf inches away from me.
This is beyond unacceptable. I am done with this Weis location and possibly Weis...
Read moreIs open 24/7, has ok prices..... the same as most stores in the area. They have a really good selection tho. Foodlion stopped selling my cat food, but Weis has it, I went to Foodlion to get a Tiramisu cake for my birthday and of coarse they didn't have it, but Weis did, and they have a lot of cool "non food " items at good prices. They were selling the nice flip flops for only $4, I ended up getting like 4 pair and they are decent quality. Also another perk is they give you gas points on your card that can be used at sheets which is convenient. Overall it's a good grocery store that I wish was closer to me then Foodlion because if it were, it would always be my first choice based on my location. Lastly is I have never encountered a rude person there. Every employee I come into contact with is always polite, helpful, patient and has a positive attitude that is pleasant to deal with. Thumbs up. The only reason I don't give them 5 stars is because there are some products that are pricey and I mainly go at night and there have been a couple times where I have driven out there to find out that they have closed the store down for several hours to clean the floors. Which I recognize that has to be done, but I feel a better method could be implemented that doesn't cause a wasted trip for customers and still allows them to get this done while still allowing at least partial access to...
Read moreI like this store and its employees. Have shopped this store since it was built. Sometimes the store does not have an item, but that happens everywhere. Must be mindful to check expiration dates. Have found items on shelves and in refrigerated cases that were beyond expiration. Starting 1/1/24 Frederick City government has banned the use of plastic bags, so, you can either bring your own or purchase paper bags for 10 cents each which we planned to do. This ordinance passed in the spring of 2023 for a 2024 start date. Today (1/2/24) we shopped for our weekly groceries and when we got to the register the cashier asked if we brought bags from home. We did not. She informed us the store had no paper bags. We had to buy cloth bags at $1.00 each. If we had a few items we would have carried them out but we had a cart full. I certainly hope that by next week this store has an abundance of paper bags. I don’t want to be forced to go outside of the city limits to shop. This new ordinance was well advertised....
