Capital Crave — Restaurant in Frederick

The food is decent but the service is horrible. They have one server running the place. Why not have more staff when you have a full restaurant of people? Not to mention he is also bartending. Took 10 mins to be seated even tho he passed me 10 times. 20+ minutes for someone to take my order then another hour+ to get my food. No apology from staff or kindness at all. Zero restaurant etiquette or common courtesy. Even seemed annoyed that I politely asked when about the food will be ready (because I had later plans I needed to make and was not planning on spending hours there waiting.) it was very weird unprofessional behavior. If they were too slammed and short staffed they shouldn’t have sat me. I would have rather known upfront and found another restaurant. Once the food came it was cold and hard like it had been sitting out for a while.. It seems they always only have the one guy serving every table and bartending- is the owner that cheap where he will not hire other staff even for a packed Friday night?I think they could do much better. I've only been here twice but will definitely be coming back. The first time I had the honey barbecue wings and an order of the beer batter fried onion rings. The wings were huge and the sauce was the perfect combination of sweet and tangy. The onion rings were crisp and very flavorful. The next time I went, I ordered a bacon cheeseburger, medium rare, with french fries. Both the burger and the fries were the best I have had in a long time. The burger was perfectly cooked, and was a thick patty. The meat is local, bought from a butcher shop, I think in Mt. Airy. There was no aftertaste, only a pure taste of hamburger meat. The bacon was perfect - so many times bacon on a cheeseburger will either be limp and greasy or burnt. The bacon was perfectly crisp without being overdone. The fries were obviously fresh cut and were also perfect, not too greasy, and not cooked to the point of being burnt.

Both times when I went (first at dinner, first at lunch), there was either no one or very few other customers there, which is a shame. The food is great and the prices very reasonable. I just hope that business picks...

Beware this place doesn't clearly tell you there is already an approximately 20% large party gratuity added to your bill if u are a large party. They hide this by only giving you a receipt to sign with the total amount listed only (this includes the hidden large party gratuity). So then they also have another line for a tip on top of that. So in reality I tipped on the whole amount (including the large party gratuity).This is double dipping on the tip. I highly recommend you ask for an itemized receipt before paying. I will say that they did allow me to adjust the receipt and remove the extra tip that I added not knowing that there was already a tip of that size included when I brought this to thier attention.

Overall I did enjoy my time there and the food and atmosphere were great but I had to ding them for this in the rating. I believe I was fair in only giving them 3 out of 5 stars. I will come back but now I know to ask for an itemized receipt. I dont mind the automatic 20% for us being a large party but it should be well...
