I waited several hours before I wrote this regarding Bogie's Bath House because I needed to CALM DOWN a bit. We had brought our dog to Bogie’s groomers before, but were told that the previous groomers moved to another location. We received a call saying that new groomers were now in the back part of the store (facing Fremont Blvd.), and we would receive a 10% discount for bringing our dog back for grooming. We made an appt. for 11 am and were asked to bring proof of our dog’s rabies and bordetella vaccinations. No problem. That’s standard procedure for most reputable groomers. We showed up on time, presented proof of vaccination, dropped our dog off with the male groomer, and were told to come back to get her in about an hour. Husband and I went and did a few errands. We returned at approx. 12:15 pm. The first thing husband said as we drove into the rear parking lot was, “Doesn’t that look like the groomer walking over to the break table?” [The front register clerk was already sitting there having lunch.] I said maybe, but I couldn’t see his face. A different person was working the front register when we walked in, and she didn’t greet us or anything. We immediately walked back to the separate grooming area and NO ONE WAS THERE! Our dog was waiting BEHIND the grooming reception desk – NOT CRATED!!! When she saw us, she bulldozed out from behind the desk, knocking open the little baby gate and came running towards us. She whined piteously, knowing something was wrong. She had no collar, no leash, and ran all over the place when we tried to catch her. Thank God there were no other dogs there. But here is my main concern: Our dog was left by herself, totally unattended! What if someone had gone back there and TAKEN her? [She is a 40 pound PURE BRED dog.] Our pets are like our children. Would anyone leave a two or three year old child unattended? I don’t think I would have been as upset if she had been crated. (Yes, there were several crates there in various sizes.) When the groomer came back, he didn’t apologize. He simply said, “I like to let the dogs run around.” What!? Are you kidding me? Do they let ALL the dogs just run around? What if there was another vicious, Alpha dog there? What if my dog had not been spayed? Use your imagination. Dogs carry other diseases besides rabies and bordetella. What if our dog caught something from another uncrated dog? What if our dog got into a fight with another uncrated dog? What if she ate something behind the reception desk? (There were lots of objects to get into and ingest on the floor, some that could cause bowel obstructions.) If this is your policy, Bogie’s groomers, you need to LET THE CLIENTS KNOW AHEAD OF TIME so they can decide whether or not they want to bring their dog to your establishment in the first place. Needless to say, we will NOT be bringing...

I've been going to Bogie's Discount Pet Food & Supplies for over six months, but today’s experience with my dog, Nikki, left me shocked. The staff labeled him as the "problem dog" upon our arrival. I had even given Nikki calming pills before our appointment and informed the groomer.

Later, the groomer called me to say that Nikki had bled a bit but assured me he was no longer bleeding. She was quite casual about it, mentioning Nikki's bleeding and difficult behavior without much concern. When I went to pick him up, the groomer explained that when she put the harness on Nikki, he moved abruptly, causing the harness to stick to his body and exacerbate the bleeding. The severity of his wound was significantly downplayed. Considering the challenges they faced with Nikki, I decided to tip the groomer in cash. However, she neither apologized nor showed any concern, continuing to blame Nikki for being difficult.

When I got home, I discovered a distressing wound on Nikki, who was clearly in pain. It was much worse than described, with his bone visible through torn skin, and he was trembling.

I was shocked by the groomer's attitude and their carelessness with a dog. I don't think any human being seeing this kind of wound would feel anything but sadness. Yet, there were no apologies, no concerns expressed, and they still blamed Nikki.

I strongly advise against visiting Bogie’s Discount Pet Food & Supplies, especially if you have an energetic dog or if you deeply care about your pet's well-being. They show a lack of concern for your dog, offer no apologies if something goes wrong, and are quick to judge your dog rather than evaluating their own skills. I suspect they'll be relieved that Nikki, the "problem dog," won't be bothering them anymore after...

BLOODY NAIL CUTTING EXPERIENCE!!

This review is for the grooming salon or section. I WILL NEVER TAKE MY BABY HERE AGAIN AND I SUGGEST YOU DON’T EITHER SO THIS DOESN’T HAPPEN TO YOU TOO!

(I’m going to refer to my pet as her/him for privacy reasons) So, I take my baby to get her/his nails trimmed for the VERY FIRST TIME so you can imagine how special this was supposed to be & how excited I was for her/him but also how scary it must have been for her/him…

The first thing I noticed was that the woman who was the groomer looked pretty tired or stressed and didn’t have any air conditioning or fans on which you would think she would with the heat during the Summer. Either way, even if the stuffy air was her fault or not which caused her frustration, I noticed that she was not pushing his hair back to see the nail that she was cutting! I told her at least once, probably multiple times that she should pull back his hair to see the nails better instead of what seemed like she was just guessing or eyeballing it. NOT SAFE! I SHOULD HAVE LEFT RIGHT THEN AND THERE BUT I DID NOT LISTEN TO MY INSTINCTS tear

My poor baby had a nozzle on and was growling so I knew she/he was uncomfortable shifting around and making it hard for her. THE BEST THING SHE COULD HAVE DONE WAS TO PULL BACK AND HOLD THE HAIR THAT WAS OVER HER/HIS PAWS TO ACTUALLY SEE WHAT SHE WAS CUTTING BUT NO, SHE DID NOT LISTEN TO ME AND BOOM JUST WHAT I WAS DREADING – SHE CUTS HIM, MAKES HIM YELP/CRY AND HE BLEEDS! ALOT!

HORRIBLE FIRST NAIL CUTTING APPOINTMENT! I’M NEVER GOING BACK THERE. BE CAREFUL! DON’T BE ENTICED WITH THE REASONABLE PRICES. SMH.
