Let me start by saying we wanted to love this place. The location is convenient, the vibe is lively, and visually, the food looked like it was about to knock our socks off. But unfortunately, what arrived at the table didn’t quite match the promise.
We were seated right away, which we appreciated but from there, things got a little murky. We didn’t know who our server was for quite some time. Several young staff members moved around us, clearly trying, but there was a noticeable gap between the ones who knew what they were doing and the ones who seemed like they were still figuring it out. The energy in the room felt a bit... chaotic. Not enough to ruin the experience, but enough to note.
Now, let’s talk food. We tried the flounder and the salmon both beautifully plated, but that’s where the praise ends. The flavors were flat. We added salt. Still flat. It felt like the kitchen was playing it too safe, or just hadn’t found their flavor identity yet. With seafood, you either let the freshness speak or season with purpose this did neither.
But then came the rose margarita with passion fruit. Listen... THAT drink deserves its own headline. Sweet, tangy, floral, and just strong enough to remind you it’s a margarita. We’ll 100% be back, but for that drink, to-go. I implore you: if nothing else, try that margarita.
There’s potential here, but there’s also work to be done. Anaya’s could be a gem with the right leadership and culinary spark. For now, it’s a decent spot with one incredible drink worth driving back for.

Read moreAfter seeing Amie Thompson Miller’s post on the Collin County Foodies Facebook page about Anayas Seafood yesterday, we decided to to head to Frisco today for a taste! Overall it was very good. The gulf oysters were great according to my hubs. The crab mac & cheese bites are too big and too dense and a little too bland. They made them smaller and had more on the plate. It would probably be better. That being said they were still good. But the crab is sprinkled on top not inside. The manager brought us out a taste of each of the four soups that they have. All four were absolutely amazing! Highly recommend!
The Texas redfish was simply amazing. It was blackened and on top of some amazing potatoes (didn’t really care for the broccoli but that’s not their fault). The fried catfish was good. Not great. The breading was a little thick and the catfish was a little tough but again it was good just not great. The fries were really good as were the hush puppies. I was not impressed with the slaw, but then again I prefer creamy slaw, not vinegar based slaw. Ivan was an amazing waiter and he definitely remembered Aimee from the day before. For drinks, we tried the pear martini and the blackberry peach margarita. We weren’t really impressed by either one, but the prices were right and we would definitely try something else next time. We had no room for dessert! We will definitely go back and try more. The service and the prices...

*WHILE SITTING IN THE BOOTH A COCKROACH CRAWLED ON MY SHOULDER!
A friend and I went here because I can only eat fish. Alphagal Syndrome. I ordered the Baja fish tacos, dairy free. They were delish! The cooking staff was super accommodating. My friend ordered the California fish tacos. The FOOD WAS AMAZING!!!! I literally cannot say it enough. I hate that a stupid bug had to spoil the experience for me. The place was clean. It was pretty full with customers too. The fish was fresh. The veggies were fresh. The beans tasted amazing.
When the cockroach crawled on my arm, and then continued to scurry on the booth padding and then along the wall I hit the roof. I don’t make a scene. My friend and I went to the front, we let the manager know and he was super apologetic, told me I could eat for free anytime and thanked us for letting him know. I am not one to vouch for a free meal, they told us we didn’t need to pay. He was very very professional. I think this is a situation where pest control needs to come out. They need to seal their leased space, and continue to make their delicious food. I have to be honest about the situation though. Food was decently priced, they had a large extra menu on the chalk board with specials and cocktails. We had the calamari for an appetizer and it was the freshest calamari I have...
