Had an error at work. Phone fell out of my pocket. The LCD broke around the edges and stopped working at the top of the screen. I read reviews and called around and found iFixit and repair. I remember using this place previously and didn't recall any bad experiences. So I went there with my Google 7 pixel pro. I asked them if they could repair the screen and if so how much would it cost? They gave me the price and I proceeded to ask if this was original equipment. The guy at the counter did state that it was not OEM. It was OLED and that OEM did not necessarily mean it was the right product. It was just another manufacturer. So I asked him if my phone would work exactly as it did before with the screen they were talking about putting in my phone. He stated that it will work just like the one that comes with the phone from manufacturer. Wayne was told the phone was finished. The guy at the counter asked me to leave the tape on my phone for another hour to make sure The glass adhered to the new adhesive I did so. However, once removing The tape I was fully able to utilize my phone and look it over. I found that the border did not go to the proper edges of the screen top bottom or left and right. I also noticed that my fingerprint no longer worked and I couldn't reset it cuz it did not register touch. The first day I went to the store I spoke with the man and he said he would order the glass after I asked my questions. Day two I returned To get my phone fixed. This took roughly about an hour so I just walked around the store and waited in my truck until the job was complete. This is now day three that I've had to go back to the store due to the screen still not functioning as it's supposed to per the questions I asked prior to the service I am now being told that it is probably due to the screen being aftermarket and for them to fix this issue. They will have to charge me $350 after rebating me back the 175. I plan on speaking with the manager. I want my phone fixed, and I'm not looking to get it done for free but I now have one wasted day another day where I have to contact a manager and then another day that I have to go to a store that is nowhere near my house. If we can come to an agreement, I will update this post based off of my conversation with the manager I'm a service provider as well and when I have a mistake and I have to make additional charges due to a technician error that customer gets discounted rates. Because The customer's time is just as important as the...
Read moreSTAY AWAY. GO TO CPR DOWN THE STREET. TRUST ME. BETTER SCREENS. Held off for a while from writing this review due to ifixit initially trying to get me a refund. In September 2020, I needed my iPhone XS MAX screen repaired. Came in. Job was done quick. Noticed the screen was dark, nothing remotely close to the original. Colors were terrible. Clearly a cheap knock off screen. So I requested my money back but after a few minutes of trying to redeem the sale, Abdul (manager) said if I paid $50 more, he’ll get me a top notch screen. So I gave them another chance. At this point I’m in $250 plus tax. Came back the next day and the “higher quality” screen was a bump better than the $199 option he had. Still the same dark screen. Ugly colors. Slow response. Too much contrast. As a professional thats sole job is to mess with colors all day I could see the difference NIGHT AND DAY from the original iPhone screen. So I asked for my money back again. They said the bank had to refund it to me. Took myself down the street to CPR were I paid the same price but the screen was the closest to what the original is. Bright. Accurate colors. Responsive and quick. I would say 2-3x better quality than the screen I had received at IFIXIT.
At this point I’m in $520 on screen repairs thinking I was getting my money back soon from IFIXIT. This is where the nightmare started. For MONTHS I tried going back and forth with my bank and theirs. Initially Abdul (manager) was the one handling the entire situation. At this point in August 2021 there’s no more communication with Abdul or his employees trying to help get the message to Abdul so action can be taken. His employees always say “call next week” or something similar to that. Just wasting my time.
After almost a YEAR later I have yet to get my $270 back and miraculously nobody is trying to help me anymore. As a customer this should be the BUSINESS LOSS, not a customers loss. Their poor refund policy should updated. Instead of having customers WASTE their time trying to fix their refund issue. Only response I’ve gotten is “it’s your banks fault, call them” but Ive wasted HOURS on the phone with the bank and they said it’s IFIXITs end. Once I get my $270 refund I will update this Google review gladly. Till that day happens I’ll make sure to make sure everyone I know to stay away from this place. My next step is to report ifixit to the BBB if I don’t get my money back within the...
Read moreThis repair shop destroyed my iPad. Prior to bringing in my iPad all I had was screen damage and everything was working fine. I was still connected to Wi-Fi. Still able to use my iPad like normal. The only thing was that the screen was cracked. So I logged out of everything turn off Wi-Fi. Everything was fine. Drop the iPad off to be repaired. I pick it up screen looks good, I try to login there in the store and I was unable to login. My Wi-Fi toggle was grayed out, it would not come on at all. I asked him what was the issue with this because it wasn’t doing this before he mentioned oh it could be a software issue and to go home and restore and connected to my iTunes and reboot. I told him I would do that, but could he put a note on my receipt stating that this issue wasn’t happening before and it didn’t happen until I picked it up, just in case I needed to bring my iPad back. He refused to notate this on the receipt and immediately accuse me of attempting to get a free service. He said that’s the reason why I tried to login in the store because I knew it was broken, WHAT?!!! Anytime I have ever got a device repaired, I have always been told to power on and login at the store, which is why I did it that time.I asked him why would I be attempting to get a free service when I just paid over $100 to fix my screen. And if he noticed the issue while fixing it, why didn’t he say something, so I can have it repaired alomg woth screen. He will not take accountability at all, he will not make any notes regarding my visit, or offer any other solutions other than connected to iTunes and see if it works. I connected it to iTunes did a restore still doesn’t work so at this point it is obviously a hard where issue that was caused by this service center. I have taken it somewhere else, and they have confirmed this. This is not right and it is unacceptable. This center will destroy your device! DO NOT USE THIS...
