It’s really really nice to have a climbing gym here in Gadsden, and we had a great time at Gadrock.
While we enjoyed the gym itself, their cancellation process was ridiculous. When you call to cancel, make sure that you send them an email following up about it — EVEN if three different staff members tell you that there’s nothing else you need to do and that they’ve cancelled it.
I originally tried to cancel our membership in January.
At the time, I was told that it would be cancelled immediately and that there was nothing else I needed to do.
However, I noticed another payment come out of my bank account on May 1st, and when I checked my statements they showed that they had continued to charge me every month after January.
When I called back again, I was told that they would cancel it and a manager would call me back. I asked when and how I should follow up to make sure it happened, and they told me I could call back later in the day but really shouldn’t worry about it because they were doing it right then.
The manager called me back a little later and informed me that because there was no email proving a paper trail, they couldn’t backdate the cancellation and refund, but they would cancel it immediately. I asked if I should send an email to have a paper trail now and she told me that she was doing it right now so it wouldn’t be necessary. However, obviously it is necessary.
I am really not impressed with how this has been handled. I understand that without an email it’s difficult to prove that we tried to cancel. But if your employees don’t tell me that I need to email to cancel, and then keep charging me — and THEN both employees tell me not to worry about emailing when I call back (despite refusing to refund because there was no previous email), you need to have a better system for...
Read moreNice little venue with an awesome view outside when you need to cool down. The walls are pretty nice in difficulty and variety. I didn't go on a weekend, so I was the only one in the gym. Though, the website has a meter that tells you how busy the place is, so you'll never be surprised with the amount of people that are there. There's personal lockers and you can place your own locks on them. The only downside in my opinion is that the bouldering wall is pretty small and confusing on where the paths are. Free-climbing it is a good warmup, but following specific colors can get rough, not knowing where to go. It doesn't seem like it is as well maintenanced as the...
Read moreOH MY HEAVENS! My 12 year old daughter could not have been more excited! Rock walls and SUP in one place?!? Such wonderfully involved owners who were helpful and accommodating. We saw them interact with all the customers that shared the time with us. If it wasn't an 11 hour drive it would be a weekly event, but, I guarantee it will be a first stop on every...
