Knits 'N Purls — Local services in Gaithersburg

Today I went to a real yarn store for the first time ever! Until now, I’ve only bought cheap yarn at Michael’s and Joann. Knits ‘N Purls was amazing! They had gorgeous yarns in a variety of materials at a variety of price points, including 100% acrylic yarn! This is important to me because my skin is sensitive to wool, so I can't use yarn that is wool or wool blend. The owner and staff were lovely and helpful, and they were totally inclusive and not wool snobs! I will definitely shop there in the future! Knits ‘N Purls is my official yarn store if and when I want to splurge! I bought these two stunning balls of 100% acrylic yarn! Very cool place! Stopped by with my family to get some yarn before going back to NYC and the staff was extremely knowledgeable and helpful for helping me pick the best yarn for my project. They have a beautiful collection of yarn, and I had to get the one pictured below even though it was not a part of my project.

The owner came out to talk to us and told us her vision, I really appreciate the community that they are trying to build and a judgement free zone that you can begin knitting and crocheting at any age and level. They really want to build a community of people and even asked what kind of projects I would like to learn. I never thought I'd be interested crocheting, but my sister's encouragement and this store's atmosphere got me interested. I don't have the best fine and gross motor skills, and so I opted for 2 private lessons. Karen was patient and always found a new angle to help me grasp the skill. With surgery coming up, she reminded tlme that she'd be happy to do a private lesson at my house and get materials to me if needed.
