I purchased a 2009 4x4 Dodge Ram at the beginning of April to replace my '99 model. I went to Norris Northup Dodge because of their supposed reputation as a reputable 5 star dealership that "has to earn their stars." While test driving, the truck began to misfire and the check engine light came on. After inspection by the service department, the salesman assured me that it needed a "sensor" and everything would be repaired to perfect working order. So I believed this, signed and drove off in the biggest mistake I've made in 12 years of driving. Two weeks passed with no communication, and the trucks condition begins to rapidly deteriorate. I informed the salesman of the unreliable and unsafe condition, coupled with the flashing service engine light that, according the the manual, signifies the vehicle should be parked immediately. This inspired them to schedule me, and two weeks later my truck arrives there to be serviced. The salesman said they would provide a loaner vehicle, which they did, and two days later I pick up my truck. That day I asked the salesman to provide me with some record of the service performed. He said he couldn't, due to the service department being closed, but he would when they returned the following week. I waited a week before inquiring once again. Still haven't received any record, but recently learned there was much more replaced than what I was made aware of. The vehicle seemed to run normally for a couple months, then the same symptoms returned to a worse degree around a month ago. I'm directed to the service manager, who has me bring the truck in where it is diagnosed and parked for two and a half weeks before they have the parts and capacity to perform the work. No vehicle was offered to me this time, and no indication that I would be without a vehicle for so long. Since my truck has been in their possession, I've been contacted once (the first day it was there) and was told it would take the better part of the week to work on due to scheduling. Two more weeks passed without communication until I drove there to personally inquire of my trucks status. I'm told they are beginning the work in two more days when they have the man power. Today makes three days since they told me they started working on it, and three weeks of me not having a truck to commute and make a living with. Not including the time it was there the first attempted repair. I needed a newer dependable vehicle to safely haul my family around and get me to work, and this has been anything but my experience. Nearly a quarter of the time I've owned and paid for this truck, it has been sitting back at the dealership, trying to be repaired to the condition I would have expected a seven year old truck coming off their lot to be in. It's like nobody drove or inspected it at all before slapping on some armor-all and parking it on the lot. Not at all what I expected. I've driven it around 7000 miles and it's time for new tires, which is acceptable, but I also had to replace the rotors, pads and calipers on the front due to them being in such terrible condition the caliper actually failed and I lost my brakes. While the service manager drove and diagnosed the truck this time, he noted there's also a problem in the rear end and also an exhaust leak in the manifold. I decided to invest in this newer vehicle from Norris Northup to provide peace of mind knowing that I was driving a dependable vehicle that I wouldn't constantly have to work with and spend money on. It has caused me nothing but stress and lost time since its purchase. The communication and transparency at this dealership has really disappointed me, as well as their lack of concern and responsibility for selling me a vehicle that I am less than proud to say that I...
Read moreI just purchased a 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon EcoDiesel from Norris-Northup and could not be happier with the way I was treated. After my local North Carolina dealerships didn't want to put in the effort to find me the Rubicon EcoDiesel I wanted, I found Norris-Northup online. I negotiated the deal over the phone with Dave Fennessy, flew into Charleston WV two days later, Dave met me at the Yeager airport and brought me to the dealership. Between when Dave and I made the deal over the phone and when I landed, I received calls from Jason Northup and Russ thanking me for my business and confirming that everything was good to go. Once I arrived, the owner Mike Northup came over to say hello and thank me, and then his crew, Russ, Jimmy, and Dave got everything taken care of in record time. Jimmy had all the finance paperwork & out-of-state registration/documents prepared when I arrived, and in less than an hour I was ready to hit the road and head back home with my Jeep. When I hopped into the Jeep, the DEF light came on but the shop guys (can't remember their names) had me back on the road in less than 20 minutes.
To be frank, I was a little worried I'd get the "you're trapped here now"-bonus charges, but all my worries disappeared once I met Dave, Russ, and Jimmy at the dealership. The deal was the deal, based simply on my virtual-handshake over the phone with Dave. I didn't pay a dime more than I anticipated. Mike Northup has a great crew working for him and represents the Jeep community well! If every Jeep dealership operated the way Norris-Northup operates, the Jeep world would be a better place.
Gallipolis isn't the easiest town to reach from where I live, but it was well worth the effort and a quick/cheap flight. All told, even with the price of the flight and fuel back home, I still saved a few thousand dollars over my big city dealership's prices just by flying there. Even adding the time to get there and back, I've spent more hours and energy trying to make a deal with dealerships a few miles from my house.
I have owned Jeeps for 30 years, Cherokee, Grand Cherokee, and two Wranglers; the Wrangler Rubicon EcoDiesel is an awesome piece of equipment! If I ever need to buy another Jeep in the future, Dave and the folks at Norris-Northup will be...
Read moreLet me tell you about my experience here and Braden in Carroll, Ohio. First let’s start with Carroll:
I had one of the worst dealership experiences I’ve ever had here in Carroll, Ohio. We worked out a deal over the phone and even set up an appointment. I drove an hour and twenty minutes to get there, only to find out that they had already sold the vehicle I came for.
Instead of honoring the deal we discussed, they tried to push me into another vehicle and then had the nerve to quote me $4,000 less on my trade-in than what we had agreed on over the phone. Total waste of my time and gas.
This place showed zero integrity or respect for my time as a customer. If you value honesty and professionalism, I’d recommend taking your business elsewhere.
Now Gallipolis:
This dealership is nothing but a scam operation. I received a letter in the mail saying I was “pre-approved” for a total payoff on my current loan. I called, spoke with a sales professional, and even scheduled an appointment for 11:00. I showed up early at 10:25, test drove the vehicle, and then they hit me with an offer that was $6,000 less than my actual payoff. After I waited 3 hours, they proceeded to tell me the vehicle needs the cam shaft replaced before it could be purchased!
No budging, no honesty — just a bait-and-switch to get me in the door. That letter is a scam, plain and simple. Snakes in the grass. I wasted another 40 minutes driving just to be lied to and taken advantage of.
Save yourself the time, gas, and frustration. Stay far away...
