For many years myself and individuals from 8000 local homes have visited Ace Hardware for the friendly service and convenience. On Monday may 4th I waited 40 minutes and line to walk around the store for 10 more minutes until I found some help. I felt like I was interrupting the sales people asking for help to find my 5 gallon drum of driveway sealer. As I carried the sealer up to the cash register I gave the price tag to the cashier and asked for the discount. I did not have an Ace card on me and got an eye roll. In addition to the rudest remarks I have ever received at a retail location in my life. With thousands of people in New Jersey out of work right now I cannot believe that Ace Hardware would have Sue working the cash register And enabling her to be so blatantly rude to customers when there are so many people that would be happy to have a job. She is clearly unhappy with her life and employment. I left my item after her rudeness and was on hold for 70 minutes with Ace customer service to no Avail. Which will lead me to now contact corporate via snail mail hand written letters and phone calls which I have begun. I will never shop at the store again. And I will not finish following up until Sue no longer Is employed with this company. And will be sure to follow up and make sure she does not become eligible for unemployment or any benefits available. It only takes a moment to be friendly to somebody it takes a lot of effort to be as rude as this woman was. I do not ever recommend Ace Hardware again and I will be following up everywhere I can to stop anyone from shopping here. Do not shop at the Galloway Ace Hardware store....
Read moreWent in 30 minutes before closing today, 4/14/2025 and for a can of WD-30. Young male employee had his head buried in his phone. I brought my purchase to the two open registers. Both registers were processing a return. So, I had to wait. After a few minutes, the customer making the return had forgotten the proper card to process the refund. He went to go get it. Instead of putting the transaction on hold, the cashier held up the line. She then spoke ill of the customer she was serving and passing judgment on his frequent returns. (You work in a hardware store. People return things that don't fit. You shouldn't judge.) When he came back, I found out that BOTH registers were processing returns for the same customer! Next time, I'd recommend having one register process all of the one customer's returns. And, if he/she does not have their cards and receipts in order, put them to the side, give the man a chance to get organized, and take the next customer. Above all, do not talk in an unkind manner about a customer in front of other customers.
On the plus side, the store was very neat...
