This was one of our favorite restaurants as it is reasonably priced and close to our university. However, we made an order on 10/5/19 for a tofu bahn mi and two chicken bento boxes. When we returned to our apartment we noticed that the bento boxes were pork instead of chicken and were missing the sushi, spring roll, and dumplings that come with it. I called and explained that the order was messed up and I was met with a woman who had an attitude. She told me she needed to "check the cameras" and that if I brought back the food I would get a refund. I explained that I didn't want a refund. All I wanted was my correct order. She said she was still going to check the cameras and I said I would call back. I called back and she was suddenly nice and saw that she did in fact give us the wrong order and that we could keep the incorrect food, come back, and pick up the proper order.
Sadly, our bad experience did not end here. Once we arrived, the man at the front desk blamed us for taking the wrong order and told us that we should have been more considerate as this mistake (which he viewed as ours despite the fact that we were handed the incorrect order) was going to cost him money in tips. He yelled at her until the woman we spoke with on the phone explained that she would pay for it and so we left with our now-correct order.
Finally, I called back after being dissatisfied with our experience and called (from the same phone the previous two calls were made) two times, both times going to voicemail. I then called from my roomates phone (which obviously has a different number) and Oxtail picked up immediately. I asked to speak to a manager or an owner because I wanted to complain about our experience. He said that it was the manager (we suspect this was the same employee who yelled at us) and then after I explained what happened he said "okay" and hung up. No apology or response.
TLDR: Bad customer service and 40 minutes of...
Read moreWe were visiting my sister in the area. We first called on a Tuesday night to order take out. Tried calling 5 times and no one ever answered the phone, so gave up.
Stopped in on Wednesday to get an updated takeout menu and asked about their phones and that we couldn’t get through the night before. They said they were very busy and apologized. They suggested ordering online or calling in an order ahead of time.
So Wednesday night we called in an order earlier in the evening. Actually got through on the first try. Picked up the order, took it home. When we opened things up, 2 of our 3 main entrees were wrong. We tried to call them to complain, but no one would pick up the phone. We tried calling several more times, but still no answer. So we packed up the orders and drove back there to complain.
It’s about a 15 minute drive, and by the time we got there, we had tried calling them a total of 22 times, and no one ever answered.
We walked in and waited for someone to come out of the kitchen to talk to us. The restaurant was NOT busy, might have been customers at 5 or 6 tables, tops.
We explained about the problems with our orders and complained about their apparent inability to answer their phones. They brought one order back out quickly, we checked it and it was still wrong! They do not seem to care about their customers at all. We waited and eventually they brought out our orders, finally correct. No real apology, didn’t care how much of our time they had wasted.
Will not return. Plenty of other places who provide great customer service who will appreciate...
Read moreHappened to be visiting Atlantic City but didn’t want to pay for the expensive prices of Atlantic City food so we ventured out to eat. Googled Vietnamese spots and this place had good ratings. Compared to Vietnamese restaurants in New York, the spring rolls were not good. The sauce that comes with the spring rolls was gelatinous - almost like apple sauce texture. It was extremely weird. The sauce they gave us that goes with the pork chop and rice was the sauce they should’ve gave us with the spring rolls. Anyway, I wouldn’t recommend their spring rolls if you’ve tried spring rolls from Vietnamese restaurants in New York. I must say that the grilled pork chop was very delicious; better than the grilled pork chops over rice dish in NY. The pork chops were slightly thicker, very tender and juicy. The chicken and beef were the same as well. I wish I tried the pho but wasn’t hungry enough to be able to finish on my own. The bahn mi was .. decent. I didn’t know what to think of it. The baguette was not what I expected. Much too much vegetables (carrots) and it wasn’t a nice balance of the pork patty with cucumber and cilantro so when you take a bite, all you’re really eating is bread and carrots on one side of the sandwich. Desserts were limited to mochi so I didn’t bother ordering any dessert. Would I revisit? Sure … after trying out other .Vietnamese restaurants in...
