Gourmet Italian Cuisine & Pizzeria — Restaurant in Galloway Township

We went to the Italian gourmet July 2024 8:00 p.m. fantastic but two other couples this is where we had our 40th anniversary with about 75 people that was back in 2010 we went there because I was our favorite place like forever so we always went once or twice a week and all our special events we went there and took our large family there oh it's a great time and I continued for the years until the pandemic and as of July that was our first time back so that's been quite a while all are reviews riding the five star now I with regret I have to give it 2 ⭐ and believe me that hurts our family has been back either so they were waiting to hear what we thought so we were hoping to send them pictures so we could see if we could start coming back as a family but I couldn't send the pictures You will see why in the pictures here we had a waiter his name was Charles he was fairly new but very good so that wasn't a problem the food was the problem I remember the pizza bread that used to bring out they don't do that no more that was disappointing instead they have garlic knots but that didn't happen either one Charles went in the back they were making them for the next day they were out of them so he was forced to bring us out some bread that look like cake what you say on top of the bread was butter that we put on still couldn't eat it very very dry he apologized so the wrong way to start dinner are salads for any time with the balsamic vinegar that was very good then we had the Meat Lasagna with provolone cheese that we request had that their 50 times always a 5⭐ not this time first of all you seen a picture there's no Meat in it then we said meat sauce was on there that wasn't right either it was actually a vegetarian Charles the waiter went back they said it did have it and it was made with it I can see being knew I didn't want him to get in any trouble in the kitchen what could happen with the cooks he's a waiter they don't like being told something's not right I was in a restaurant business most of my life I know what it's like in the kitchen anyway like I said meatless lasagna also had to add extra sauce which is very good that I will say and we also had the chicken parm also requested the provolone cheese which was done also with linguini spaghetti that was good had to ask for extra sauce needed it the only recommendation the chicken was very thick would have been much better dish if they pounded it down some it would have looked bigger easier to eat and a nicer presentation so I'm showing the pictures with regret what's happening for this to be our favorite Italian gourmet again so we can have our family events like we used to but I don't think that's going to happen and that's a shame we have a lot of great times there hate to be without our favorite restaurant but it's kind of hard to tell our family that it was not as good as it was or it used to be and when you're spending a decent amount of money give me the decent food their standards we're at the top now I think they're missing some things I hope they get them together I hope one day to try them again and have our parties in our gatherings there like we used to for the parties that we had we spent quite a bit of money but it was worth it now like I say the wife and I lost that the night we were there and today we're senior citizens old school retired from restaurants so I've been around so like I said if I ever go back again I'll do another review hopefully this time I can be able to tell my children and family it's time to go back so we'll see I'm not telling people not to go there I've been in the restaurant business to do that I say give it a try maybe you'll have a better time then we did so try on your own good luck and I hope it becomes what it used to be The...

Wow! This place is amazing! But a quick, little backstory first: Four years ago I had a wedding rehearsal dinner here. The restaurant dropped the ball and did not know my party was coming despite our reservation.

Fast forward four years later: I’m reminded of our bad experience four years ago, so I figured, “What the hey?”, and I bring the issue of our rehearsal dinner to the attention of Icon Hospitality (who oversee Gourmet Italian Cuisine along with several other properties).

I immediately got a response from Icon who wanted to know more! I was put in touch with Kristin (who did an amazing job with our wedding at The Carriage House four years ago!!). She informed me that Gourmet has new service staff and management since my last experience and she invited me and my wife to celebrate our wedding anniversary at Gourmet to experience the difference and to make up for what happened.

My wife and I were blown away by our experience. Gourmet is a gorgeous place whose classy, elegant ambiance and décor belie the very reasonable prices. Right away the chef, manager, and other staff introduced themselves to us. And even though none of them were around four years ago, they all went out of their way to apologize for the incident and make sure our current evening was top notch. Suffice to say, they all exceeded our expectations! They went over and above for us!

The service throughout the evening was exceptional! Food came out in a timely manner and was delicious! We had the calamari, French onion soup, chicken marsala, and chicken parm, all of which were substantial in portion size and tasted great. At the end of the evening, they surprised us with a miniature version of our wedding cake for dessert! Unbelievable!

Absolutely atrocious. Has to be the worst experience dinning out that I have ever had. Which is sad to say because we have been here multiple times and do some what enjoy the atmosphere. Regardless, not this time, it took 15 mins to get an order of fries for or daughter which were order with our drinks. In that time we were not checked on. Finally we put in out entire order including appetizer. It took over 30 mins to get the appetizer mean while the place was empty. Maybe 3 others were sitting. In that time our waitress never checked on us I fact she would poke her head out then disappear in the kitchen again. I finally got up to get a manger because at this time my daughter was restless. The manager was very pleasant I must say and did comp the app. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and give them an opportunity to make it right which is only fair. But yet again the waitress continued to ignore us. We asked for ketchup and ranch which was never brought to us until I could wave her down. For god sakes she never even gave my wife a straw with her drink I was absolutely appalled. I really was looking for a reason for me to justify tipping the waitress whe I have her the chance to make it right she didn't. I did leave a tip because I don't have it in my heart not to but it certainly was not 20%. And not to mention the food was no good. Really we have never been to impressed with the food also certainly doesn't live up to the prices or the look of the place. Overall it took over 45 mins to get an app from the time we sat and were treated like garbage. Even the bar tender had a terrible attitude when we ask if he could put a NFL game on even though they offer Sunday ticket which is a nice feature. Just awful.
