Morrison Jewelry — Local services in Geneva Township

This story is about an 'older' couple that decided to change our status from boyfriend and girlfriend (after 8 years) to husband and wife! We've been curious about the Morrison Jewelry building ever since we moved here- 2yrs. ago and we finally had a valid reason to visit! Our plan was to announce our engagement on Christmas day while spending time with our family in Nashville and on a zoom call with our California fam and we needed that special ring. That's when I uncovered a very old (vintage) ring in my jewelry box that my mom had left to me. The history of who owned it may have been my grandmother who was very grand (in size and importance!). My grandfather was the Chief of Police in Brooklyn N.Y. back in the 1940's and I assumed it was her ring! The ring was rather large and needed to be sized if I were to wear it for our big announcement! That's when we decided to venture into one of our favorite historic buildings with ring in hand. We assumed this would be a long shot to get an old ring polished up enough to be a temporary solution for our engagement with the intention of purchasing a new one in the future. When we entered Morrison Jewelry we were pleasantly surprised - this building and it's interior beauty has a story to tell and Alicja and Val were there to warmly greet us and give us the tour- from the history of the building to each jewelry cabinet that they purchased to display their unique and artistic pieces in a way that reminded us of the beautifully curated art galleries and jewelry stores on Canyon Road in Santa Fe, New Mexico. We were invited to sit and chatted while my ring was inspected and my finger was sized.

When we returned to pick up the ring we didn't recognize it!!! This vintage ring had been restored to it's former glory with the white gold polished and gleaming and those diamonds sparkling! The fit was perfect . Such time and effort invested in this old tarnished ring with such a big history shows the talent and artistry of true jewelers. Needless to say my daughters were happy about our announcement but more blown away by my ring with it's family history! I lift the lid from the black velvet box and what I see takes my breath away. I’ve owned my custom-made aquamarine and diamond ring for approximately 10 days and am still shocked that any object could so perfectly embody a dream I hardly knew I had.

I’m not what you’d call a jewelry person. I only care about delicate vintage pieces and rings in particular. Several years ago, I was captivated by vintage aquamarine rings; they speak to me from another time and calm me with their tender blue-green hues. I owned a particularly large and beautiful stone which was on a chain to be worn as a pendant. One day, it hit me that I would love to see that stone in a ring.

Thankfully, I brought it, along with several old diamonds, to Morrison Jewelry. After two meetings, the talented designer and co-owner, Alicja, knew in her bones exactly what I wanted: a truly glamorous ring that straddled the old world and the new, a piece with delicate vintage flourishes surrounding a spectacular stone, set just so!

I liked the computer design layout that Alicja showed me for approval. But it wasn’t until she unveiled the finished ring, that I grasped its unique beauty and meaning.

It’s all light and luxury. Opulent yet also delicate. It speaks of old-world glamour with a clean, clear voice. It’s like every classic black and white romantic film come to life on my finger. And it was made only for me.
