Lowcountry Jewelers — Local services in Georgetown

Very frustrated. Bought a chain from here we were told was sterling silver only to find out later that it was in fact stainless steel (which would've cost significantly less money). Reached out since we do not live in the area (we were visiting family), and they told us that it was a mistake, and they wanted to make it right. Sounds good. They said we could keep the stainless steel chain and that they would send us one like it in sterling silver. They told us their distributor had one (sent us a photo to verify it was what we wanted) and that they would let us know when they received it and were shipping it out to us. Well after 2 weeks with no contact from them, I sent out an email this morning seeing if they had an ETA on when they would receive the chain. Well, I immediately received an automatic response saying that they closed their doors on 8/16. So, we never got a new chain, and they basically just ghosted us. I've put in a dispute with the credit card company so hopefully we will be able to get our money back since it was a good bit of money that we paid for what we thought was a sterling...

The first time I used Low Country Jewelers they were awesome!!!! A recent snafu had me going bonkers. BUT Don’t let it deter you, just call first.

They open at 10 am but tried the door - locked and no note. (Other patrons were waiting as well so you know it’s a great business) We all Waited until 10:30 and saw someone in the store. Like a mob we all go to door only to find a note “opening at 11am our apprentice likes to sleep in like a baby and I’m here by myself” Stressful for the store I'm sure. (Help, let alone Good help is hard to find these days )

I went back at 3:45p to find the door locked another note “closed for 1/2 hour” Again other patrons were waiting as well. At 4:30p they were still not back. Since they close at 5 and so did my next errand, I called it a day.

I’ll be using them again, the work was great and when you do get thru the door (😉) and talk with staff you won’t be disappointed. I’ll be sure to call first and plan my errands accordingly. Hope you figure out better provisions to avoid any...

Worst experience I have ever had and would never suggest this jewelers to anyone!!! First initial meeting was great but then after they had my ring for longer than was initially told to me and then the day I was told it would be finished was told that they regrettably lost diamonds out of the band and needed to be kept longer to replace them. Nothing but excuses all the way around for a week and then when I went to pick the ring up was told the cost was $400 more than what was originally quoted to me. First and last time I trust these people with my property. Would have been better off going to Zales where the people present themselves as professional and presentable to their clientele.
