I knew I wanted a Pawley's hammock, but had questions. I called the shop, and the lady I spoke with gave me the "low down" on the different materials and their pros & cons. After digesting the information from the call, I ordered online (their price was as good as anywhere else, but their free shipping sealed the deal). I received an email with the tracking number with a breakdown of the order and contact information. The order came via FedEx in excellent shape within three days of placing the order. The order was perfect, and there was even a card enclosed telling me which craftsmen/craftswomen made my individual hammock. I loved that personalized touch. The hammock is perfect...very comfortable and fits perfectly (as described when I called) in the space I have to work with. I loved it so much that I ordered a pillow and a drink holder a few days later...again with free shipping...and again, it arrived three days after the order was placed (from SC to TX). The Original Hammock Shop is THE place to get a good hammock with excellent...
Read moreI always shop at this shop when I’m visiting Pawley’s Island. The whole village is nice with little gift shops and boutiques. Today is my last time ever going back there and spending money. Fudge is the main item I go for and nice hoodies. The lady that works the fudge counter is never super friendly but today she was very rude, hateful, and condescending to me. I guess my money isn’t as good as anyone else’s. We went straight from the beach because our puppies was napping in our camper. I assume because I was in my bathing suit and cover up, both are modest, and I have a few tattoos I wasn’t her standard of people. That’s fine because the other shops and places I have visited were very friendly and didn’t mind taking my money. They were very helpful except this miserable lady. I’m sure there is better fudge around probably made with love something she...

We've been coming to this hidden gem for years. Nestled in the front of the Hammock shops, this store contains handmade mugs and homemade fudge that change seasonally. I'm particularly fond of the peanut butter fudge. They also make an excellent white tiger, which is a combination of peanut butter and vanilla fudge. You can buy seasonal specials like lavender lemon and chocolate-covered cherry in the summer or pumpkin and apple crumble in the fall.
** UPDATED BELOW: Unfortunately, not wheelchair friendly. There are a few steps on both ends of the shop, making it difficult, or impossible for those with wheelchairs or larger mobility aids to access.
*Edited - The owner has replied, and reminded me that the front entry does have a side ramp for wheelchair access! I apologize...
