Iāve never had any issue with the customer service at Optimum but Iām comparing that to dealing with stupid AT&T. Iām glad to be done with AT&T. I have my internet and mobile service through Optimum now. The phone service is good besides the scam they try to pull for āpremium data.ā That alone makes me want to switch carriers. They claim to give you unlimited data but after 20 GB they slow your speeds because you donāt pay for premium data. Scam. The service is really cheap though so whatever Iāll deal with the scummy tactics like AT&T pulls. Customer service has always been good so maybe Iāve just never had a bad interaction like most people complaining here. I do think they use AI to talk to customers through chat even though they wonāt admit it.
My issue is internet stability. Itās gone down twice this month and has taken almost 24 hours to fix both times. That is just unacceptable to me. Then I ask if theyāre going to credit customers accounts since we arenāt getting the service we pay for and they just give me the run around customer service attitude BS. If youāre not going to provide the service I pay for then why am I getting charged full price. It takes way too long to get a tech out to fix stuff. I also have issues with speed stability during large downloads. This may actually be an issue with the actual program servers I download from but Iām not sure. Either way the speeds jump up and down like crazy sometimes.
I just did a few speed tests and while it stayed mostly around 800-1200 Mbps, it dropped down to 300 Mbps at one point. It gets even lower than that a lot while downloading large files. Some days it just jumps between 0-250 Mbps and Iām forced to switch sever locations to get speeds back up. I know that part of the problem is the server Iām downloading from but a big part of it is Optimum. Speeds just fluctuate way too much.
Case in point: Iām playing Diablo 4 right now and just got kicked out of a dungeon when I was almost done with it and lost all progress. I know Iām nerding out but Iām just making a point. I checked online and most people that have this issue say itās an ISP issue, so itās optimum and not the game servers.
If they would switch to fiber or just figure out a way to stabilize speeds and get techs out faster to fix outages, I would have 0 issues...
Ā Ā Ā Read morehorrible customer service If I can give them 0 star I will do that, I went to this store 2 weeks ago and I said I want to get internet for my apt, Briana gave me the router and she said you have internet in this apt all you need to do is plug the machine and you follow the steps, I went home and I did what the process listed and then no internet, I caller customer service I said there is no internet and they said plug it in different one and we tried 3 different spots and in the end they said you don't have any signal, I said I want to cancel this I will go have different company that will come and do this for me and I don't have to have headache and once they transfer me to the canceling department he told me that they will give me 3 month free to keep this and we can set up appointment for next week between 5 and 8 pm I said ok, now we are in the day that they suppose to show up, they called me around 12 first time I said I am at work and I can't answer and we still meeting between 5 and 8 pm , I left work 4.30 I got by 4.55 pm at home and they already came and left me peace of paper that they missed me, I called and I was so mad and I went the next day to the store and I returned my equipment and left home. the next day of the management called me and asked me to give them a nother chance and I told her I already have appointment with different company, Saida she is one of the managment she told me please give us chance so we can fix this and we can leave $150 in your account l. I told her I don't have any trust to this company and I don't have time to this games, She said we will schedule appointment for Tuesday and I will make note for the technician to be there between 7 and 8, today I came back earlier I left my job also lost money just to come earlier and again they came in they did not even called me or anything just left same peace of paper for me that they missed me . guys don't trust this company they are just don't value anyone time and you can't trust them to do any business, I rather to go pay more and don't have this horrible experience. and all my friends told me why you want to have optimum they are horrible and now I recognize why all my few friends have different company because this company have the most horrible service ever. We got internet service with them for 6 months but the plan we got was not enough to keep up with our usage so decided to call to switch plan. They talked so great and professional that they convinced me to switch my phone carrier with them. Mind you I hadnāt had a problem with them yet. Well they straight up lied to me. I explained to them that with my old service provider I had unlimited everything and we already had a great deal. Well they said they could beat the price for the exact same thing we were already getting with our previous service provider. They made everything seem so great that I decided to switch with them. WORST DECISION EVER! I have 3 lines and they were only able to connect two of my lines. I was very patient with them and the process, I really needed my third line so I did everything they told me and nothing. I was a one month without service for my third line! Thatās not the worst part. Two weeks after switching with them I get a text stating āOptimum Mobile: You've used most of your Unlimited GB plan. You may experience slower data speeds until the next billing cycleā. I was so confused as what I agreed on was unlimited everything for my 3 lines! Again they lied to me!!! The only time my phone worked was at home with WiFi. I had no signal outside of home. So disappointed. I kept calling customer service and no one was able to help me. Every time I would call I had to explain my self because apparently they donāt document/note anything. It got so frustrating trying to explain my situation to 20 people in one day bc they kept transferring me to different people. I asked to speak to a supervisor/manager and there was never one available. I just got tired of it and decided to go back to my old phone service provider. Like I said WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! I lost so much time and money. Thats another thing I asked for a refund for the month that my third line was without service and never received it.
