UPDATE to my November review. We went back to Ruby Garden in Georgetown on Thursday for lunch. This is now our go-to restaurant to get Chinese food. We had the same excellent experience that we had the first time. And the husband-and-wife duo that work the front are very friendly and helpful.
We got the Crab Rangoon again this time and we both really liked it (which is why we got it again!). This time we tried the General Tso Chicken and the Kung Pao Beef. Both are very good. And my wife had to get the Fortune Lomein again because she enjoyed it so much the first time. She was not disappointed.
I’ve included more pictures with this update. I’ll let you judge for yourself, but I think the food looks as great as it tastes! I highly recommend that you try Ruby Garden! Ruby Garden in Georgetown is in the Wolf Creek shopping center. There are a lot of places to eat in this shopping center, and from the outside, Ruby Garden doesn’t seem different from all the other strip mall places. It also seems that they changed their name recently from Fortune Garden to Ruby Garden. Nevertheless, it is worth stopping at Ruby Garden because the food is very good. There is no server, so you order your food at the counter, and they bring the food out to your table. The food came out fast and hot.
We started with Crab Rangoon which comes with eight pieces. Cooked perfectly with the right amount of filling, we loved this appetizer. I got the Orange Chicken lunch plate, which comes with choice of soup (I got Wonton Soup), egg roll, and rice. With a generous portion of chicken, this is an excellent lunch option and great value for your money. The sauce on the chicken was perfect with a nice little hint of spice. I loved it. My wife got the Fortune Lomein with combo meat option (chicken, beef, and shrimp). Wow! This is the way lomein should be cooked. The noodles were cooked and sauced to perfection. We both enjoyed the food and can’t wait to try other items on their menu.
Look, I know there are some mixed reviews but from our experience, this is the best Chinese food that we have found in the area. When we want Chinese food, we will go to Ruby Garden and I highly recommend that you...
Read moreI’ve always loved this place but took about a year break from it and to be honest it is not the same place I used to love, For starters this wasn’t the main problem it was just pesky but I was asked fried or steamed rice with my meal and I said sure steamed but it wasn’t mentioned that fried was extra $ (which i didn’t mind because I understand fried rice has egg and other things) but once the food came the “fried rice” was basically just steamed rice with a little more no egg no toppings. But that wasn’t the main problem I used to go here a while ago and it’s honestly sad how much the food and portions have changed instead of a plate of “mongolian beef” I got a played filled with veggies with a small side of beef sprinkled in and the beef recipe has changed the flavor isn’t there and the meat was chewy not tender like it used to be. My friend also ordered garlic chicken and got a plate of veggies with a sprinkle of chicken and the flavor wasn’t the best also. The only thing that hasn’t changed much besides a little less chicken is the General TSOs chicken and it tasted and was cooked amazing. I understand things are getting more expensive but the price has already been raised (I paid a little over 60 for 3 people) why is the portion completely changed to have so much less meat. I used to love this place going every week but I will not be back until I know it has changed. I also want to say although the food has its problems now, the staff has always been amazing, super nice, super helpful and 5/5 I will never complain about...
Read moreI usually don't eat at subpar "Chinese" resturant because of the obvious stated reason, it's below average! I just came from the airport, I've been traveling, I was tired and hungry and no energy to search an authentic Chinese resturant. I wanted to eat honey walnut shrimp and Fortune Garden offered it on their menu. I had no expectation it would to be great but I was blown away how unacceptable it was! Whomever is the "chef" definitely needs to be fired for his lack of cooking skills! Honey walnut shrimp comes with candied walnuts not cashews!! The batter was so thick, there was no crisp to it and lathered in mayonnaise alone!! If you don't know how to cook a decent edible honey walnut shrimp, then take it off your menu! The other dish I order was just as horrible! The sauce was way too heavily pungent and the beef was overcooked. The dining area was dirty. The floors needed to be swept and mopped and tables were...
