Drove 30 minutes to do a little racing. Huge place with 6 or so tracks. There were 4 people racing at one of the larger tracks. So I thought cool this will be fun. There wasn't anyone at any of the other tracks . I was told I had to start on the HO track by myself. The car was slow and just held it wide open for 4 boring minutes. I told them I am 60 and have been slot car racing my entire life. I was told everyone starts on the HO track and works around the different tracks in order. I said I wasn't racing anymore on the HO track, and wanted to pay and leave. The women got irritated and took me to her husband for further explanation. By now I am frustrated and just wanted to leave, and I am sure my tone showed it. I told him I understood there rules, and wanted to pay and leave. He said no charge and I left. On the way out the women yelled across the store that I wasn't welcome back, as if I would want to.
I have never been to a slot car facility that doesn't let you race where you want to. Seriously the other tracks were empty, except for 1.
This place could be awsome. My recommendation would be to not go in by yourself when they...
Read moreLast Friday a friend and I had a great day at Slot Car Raceway and Hobby. We drove up from West Palm and spent four great hours there. Two weeks before, my wife and I took a trip to the Outlet Mall and when I saw that you guys had opened, I was ready! The owners were great, gracious and helped us with our 1960's vintage slot cars wherever necessary. They answered all our questions and helped to make it a good time. We will now be regulars and we are hoping this takes off like it did back in the day. I now know the difference between what we had in the 60's and the equipment which is out now. Even bought a new car which was tremendous. Nice to know the younger kids are getting the slot car bug and nice to know that us folks in our 60's are back and racing. With all the new stuff, I will say that my Cox La Cucurracha which came right out of the box in the mid 60's and has been asleep for almost 45 years, hit that track and didn't miss a beat. Keep up the great work. We are both attorneys and have friends who want back in and we are spreading the word all over....See you...
Read moreI went there with my 12 year old son to try out the slot car racing. We did a 5 minute race, and after 1 minute we both had the triggers for the cars maxed out and they were just going around the track with no skill involved. I asked they lady working there to add more power to make it more challenging and she said she would, but did not. Then after the 5 minute boring "race", I asked if we could do another 5 minutes, but with a more challenging track. She said we could do that if we bought an hour appointment, where we could get more difficult. I told her no, I didn't want to spend an hour there and left. So I spent $20 for 2 of us to hold a trigger for 5 minutes to see a piece of plastic go in a loop around a track. This place was a rip off. I'm never going back after this service, as they tried to rope us in for paying...
