I wanted to send a balloon bouquet to my mother for her birthday. I live in another state, so I also needed a place that provided delivery. I called several party stores in/ near Edwardsville. I was surprised to find that most were not interested in filling a “small” order, and were generally unfriendly, unreliable, and extremely overpriced. I had all but given up when I called To-Do’s. Katie, the owner, picked up right away. She was very friendly and offered some great suggestions. She spent considerable time talking with me, sending me pictures, etc. to make certain that I was happy ad my with order was just right. On top of all that, Her prices were very reasonable. My mom, who is 80, lives in a retirement community. I was concerned about getting the delivery there since the community is very cautious about deliveries due to COVID. Katie assured me she always wears a mask when delivering, & requires customers to wear them when in her store. I greatly appreciated her professionalism and socially responsible policy. The delivery was right on time, beautiful, and Katie even called later to see how my mother liked it. Very poor experience. They blew up lettered balloons for my sons birthday. One of the letters popped. It of course was not their issue it was a defective ballon. Fine. I was not upset. They wanted to know my thoughts on a solution. I was fine with them using a different color and smaller sized ballon just so my son could have his name not misspelled at his party. They wanted to charge me full price to replace the letter. I did not like that so they offered to tape the ballon I had and refill it. AGAIN, wanted to charge me for the helium even though they popped the ballon. With really no options and a party stating in 2 hours they taped the ballon and refilled it. I paid for it and left. By the time I got home it was completely flat. They must be hard up for $10 if a bad customer experience is valued at that. I then drove to Party City and got all new balloons. I've made purchases from this store in the past with no problem, yet with no spectacular or positive experience. My most recent purchase was 40 balloons for my son's birthday. The manager herself even talked me out of the helium tanks I had purchased from Walmart, saying those would only last 2 days. She was nice enough to fill them and help me to my car. Well, these 40 balloons I purchased for $1.09 each lasted LESS than 48 hours. I called and asked to speak with the manager, she did not return my call. I called again two days later only to find that she was surprised to hear it and couldn't do anything about it. What disappoints me is the fact that she and another employee working assured me the balloons would last at least 3 to 5 days, that was what made me use them instead of Walmart.
