Good Roots — Local services in Glen Ellyn

I visited Good Roots with a girlfriend this past week. She wanted suggestions for a gift plant, and I found Good Roots to be the perfect place for finding a gift for a plant-inclined friend!

There is a selection of philodendrons, calatheas, pepperomia, some of the largest air plants I’ve ever seen, monstera, etc. the plants we purchased were in excellent condition, no pests or pot bound issues. Soil was high quality. Also transplant shock being less of an issue as the plants are being kept indoors before purchase, and already acclimating.

The cashier (owner?) also took down our name and a few “wishlist” plants that we’ve been trying to hunt down. The customer service was amazing, and the entire building just inspires creativity. A lovely afternoon with a girlfriend. The dried sage and bouquets are to die for as well.

I so rarely shop in store anywhere. Good Roots is the exception. It is a rare shop that lives up to its image on instagram. I have purchased plants and planters, crystals, little decorative objets, and (easily my favorite) their bespoke candles. Their candle are easily the best I’ve ever burned. From each unique fragrance to the even burn and chic jar and label, they are a pleasure to light. Another thing I love, and you sure don’t come across this often, is that one of the owners, either Ashley or Lindsay, are always in the shop. It’s a lovely personal touch and it makes a great impact. Also worth noting, they have a fantastic system of showcasing their newest arrivals via their Instagram stories. All you do is reply “sold” to the story and if you’re first they let you know and one quick Venmo later, it’s yours! They make shopping feel like shopping...

From the windows to the walls this space and women who own it have created a gathering place for plant ladies and anyone who walks through the door. The space has hand selected local artisans and home decor items to die for (the magic carpet wall, vintage finds and local artists selection is a must see) I have visited several times since grand opening and there is not one time I leave without a gem that fills my home or workspace with a little more good. I have always felt welcomed and I am immediately greeted with friendship and love. Everything you need for your home to fill it with good energy is here and then some. Good roots is not only a place to shop for your next favorite thing but a lifestyle of compassionate and passionate togetherness, you can feel it in the air.
