If I could give a zero I would. This place is awful. It all started with the bate and switch when you move in. They say that have an apartment for a certain amount, then say they just rented out the last one at that rate. Then they raise the rate several hundred dollars. They also give you a firm move in date, but then they change that date not letting you know until you are here. When you talk to Joslyn in the office, she is extremely rude and really doesn't care if anyone is happy but herself. The only nice people in the office are actually temps that they take in on a daily basis. Not very professional at all.
The maintenance guys have been very nice, the only problem is that they never get notified when something needs to be done so it's a crap shoot if they will make it. We've had toilets clogged regularly because of the plumbing. We've had washers, dryers, water heaters and heaters break in the 10 months we have been here. The very quickest anything has been fixed is three days. The norm is to wait at least a week before anything is done.
The valet garbage is crap as well. They charge you an additional $25-$35 for this fee when the dumpsters are really close and they don't show up most of the time. It is a pointless service. We put garbage out on Sunday and it wasn't picked it up until Thursday night when the guy picking it up was really rude. He started yelling because there was too much garbage when that had actually accumulated over the week because no one came.
Be very careful here when they say PET FRIENDLY! A woman attempted to poison several dogs using a chemical and mothballs. We let the office know and they didn't do anything about it. We had to get the police involved as well as the city and EPA because it could get in the water. Meanwhile the apartment did nothing. When approached recently, Joslyn said "it's only mothballs". Obviously she isn't intelligent enough to know that when a dog ingests a poison, they are not going to be healthy. We had several dogs throughout the complex that had vomiting, foam coming out of their mouth, diarrhea, sneezing, constant blowing trying to get the chemical out of their snout and another completely healthy dog died.
This place also charges more then they should for utilities. You have to pay your own electric but then the apartment adds on community charges for their electricity and water. Somehow they always manage to add on at least $200 per unit to get more money from you. The windows are also awful here. Keeping our one bedroom apartment at around 60 degrees in the winter, cost us about $250 per month in heating expenses.
I love living in Golden and don't want to leave, but I would never stay here again. I wish I would have known how bad this place was before we moved in. It looks nice when you take the tour like a lot of places, but then you realize how awful it is quickly. Don't trust anything that Joslyn or anyone in the office say. They will change whatever they want and end up screwing you over. It is a lot like buying a car that is a lemon here. On the surface it looks okay, but when you get down to it, it's awful
I would recommend to everyone that they should stay away...
Read moreIf I could give zero stars to current management, I would. They are unbelievably unprofessional. I went into the office and sent multiple emails over the course of a year about parking (which by the way, you will be charged for monthly and you will NOT be guaranteed a spot. Often, I was walking three buildings away). This was particularly stressful at night after one of our friends in the building next to us was held at gunpoint while his truck was robbed. I went to speak with the manager Lynne, and she was more concerned with “making sure we get our five star reviews” rather than addressing the issues or taking what residents have to say to heart and addressing these concerns. I suggested assigned parking, I suggested designated visitor parking near the pool, I suggested cheaper garage rates since the monthly fee for those is astronomical and half of them are vacant. I also asked for clarity since they made each tenant pay monthly parking, how it was possible there were cars with popped tires, broken windshields, expired registrations, excess visitors per building (who by the way were OFTEN getting the police called on them for DV late at night while I was trying to park at my home). She then informed me that even though they had been sending emails saying cars who weren’t paying would be towed, that altitude had actually lost its contract with Wyatt’s towing and has been without for multiple months. So, when I fairly asked to be reimbursed the $16 per month (two people two cars on our lease) since they were not doing their jobs, they ignored me.
We finally were fed up with the poor management, the ridiculously high charges for things like parking, mail, valet trash (that no one uses), our electric bill being sky high due to poorly made buildings… the list goes on. We gave our vacate to notice on January 16th (move out day March 9th) and on that form requested to be present at our walk through (there was an option to deny to be present but you better believe we didn’t do that), even put a preferred date and time (reasonably since it was the work week). They NEVER contacted us for our walk through. They tried entering our apartment without our permission (violation of the lease), never called and I was home and caught them walking in. And wouldn’t you believe these scums charged us $260 for a “deep clean” and took it out of our security deposit? Even though we weren’t even aware of when they were doing a walk through? Luckily I had 50+ photos and videos of how clean we left that place. I will continue to argue for the money that was taken and belongs to me.
Oh and don’t count on a working gym, they were “working on” getting a treadmill for 6 months, while still making me pay for amenities that weren’t even operable… lol.
This management is trash.
The one positive thing I will say is that the maintenance team was very friendly. They were definitely jack of all trades and master of none, since we had to put multiple work orders in for the same issue over the course of our 4 years there but they were very nice people.
And the location for this place is excellent, but...
Read moreThe actual apartment was reasonable (I think it had just been renovated), and with the exception of a few maintenance problems I was quite pleased with the apartment. The management on the other hand was another story. The absolute incompatible of the management team was phenomenal. A representative example of this poor management was when I was when I was miss-billed. I paid the amount listed on my bill on time each month. As it turned out that wasn't the amount I was supposed to pay, I had been short around $100 a month for several months because I made the stupid mistake of assuming that management could correctly add numbers together and bill me for the correct amount. Out of the blue I received a notice about all of the rent I owed in addition to all kinds of late fees. I actually thought this was a scam at first because I had paid my rent on time every month. Anyway, this turned into a huge headache and was only partially resolved. Luckily, I had kept all of my old bills and was able to prove that I thought I was paying the full amount and they waived all the late fees. The underlying problem was never fixed however, I was routinely billed the wrong amount until I moved out. Altitude uses a company called Conservice to generate the bills and apparently there was a miscommunication between them and Altitude, this resulted in Conservice and Altitude thinking I owed different amounts. This of course could not be fixed because each thought the other had made the mistake, to this day Conservice still thinks that I was over paying and that Altitude owes me some hundreds of dollars (they don't). As far as I can tell this all originated many months ago when Altitude incorrectly billed me for a garage and when this was resolved Altitude updated their records but didn't forward the correct information to Conservice. Another example of the incompetency of the management was the fact that it took 3+ months to get my security deposit back after I moved out. During this time they sent my information to a collection agency saying I owed them the amount of the security deposit. This particular problem was resolved reasonably easily, but still the fact that it happened at all says a lot. There were also many hidden fees/bills on top of an already pricey apartment. One of these is the "valet trash," which is $25 a month and more of an inconvenience than anything else (you have to leave your trash outside all night in the trash bin and not just in a tied up garbage bag, meaning that you can't use the trash bin inside the apartment that night). They don't even come pick up your trash Friday through Sunday and a number of other days when they are lazy or forget. Management also gets mad at you for leaving your trash out for multiple days after someone repeatedly forgets to come pick it up.
Anyway, unless you want to walk down to the office to sort out a problem that was caused by the absolute incompetence of the management every other month or so, I would...
