Golden Ace Hardware — Local services in Golden

I went in today to get a bottle jack and wanted to spend some time looking around to make sure I didn't need anything else so I took my product to the counter so I didn't have to carry it around with me because of slipped disks. Mind you, it's me, a small white girl, with two grown men and a teenage boy in the store. The ONLY people in the store.

The owner (I guess?) and the other older employee started following me to the corner of the store and staring intensely and talking about me (to which I didn't realize most of it as I was just trying to browse) and then FINALLY confronted me that he HAD to watch me because he's had a problem with theft lately.

I get it. That sucks.

But don't make me feel uncomfortable when I'm in the furthest corner of the store from the door. Keep it to yourself like normal people who try to figure out if someone is stealing or kick me out. I'd rather chance being embarrassed letting you embarrass yourself for nothing, than be completely uncomfortable. The last time I was here I was asked to take my backpack off before entering the store (I don't have a car and carry my purchases home), after which I was followed around the store by an elderly man who worked there. The cashier was really friendly and a great guy, I hate to leave a bad review, but man, being followed around and treated like a criminal really soured me on this place. I wanted to support a new hardware store but I'll just order on Amazon instead. Really...
