I’m having a tough time feeling positive about Icelantic as a brand right now. I bought their Nomad 105 ski last season and skied it a couple of times. Honestly, the ski didn’t feel right to me. Then I come to find out that the Nomad 105 is not true to specs. The ski measures 11cm underfoot and is actually a 110-111. I reached out to the company and expressed my frustration about feeling mislead by how the ski is advertised. In all my research of the ski I did not see any information about this not being a true to spec ski. I had to find out in a random conversation I was having with a ski tech about not liking how the ski was performing.
The company acknowledged that he ski is not a 105. I asked them to let me exchange the ski since I felt misled by them. Their compromise was say that they don’t have a customer satisfaction policy and they would let me have another pair of skis at a reduced price since the skis I have were depreciated in value. So in essence I felt they told me I needed to pay more for new skis to account for their dishonest advertising. I don’t really see how this is a help to me. I bought their really expensive skis, put new bindings on them, based on a belief that I was getting a 105 ski underfoot. Because I trusted their advertising I spent a good junk of change and their response is “Yeah the advertising is not completely honest and why don’t you spend some more money getting new skis from us.”
This company has lost a customer for life. They have lost my family’s business and I will make sure to let other people in my community know that this is not a brand they should invest money in. I think the vibe of the company and quality of the skis are great. I just don’t like feeling fooled and then being told I’m responsible to pay for it. Icelantic is responsible to be accountable for how they represent themselves. If they want to do that dishonestly I guess that is their choice. My choice is to never endorse or support this...
Read moreI never write reviews, but the man working on 2/4 was so rude. It was the Goldens in Golden event. I came in with my dogs leashed around the same time as a USPS worker. I had been taking a photo of my dogs by the chairs in front of the store and the USPS worker politely waited the literally 10 seconds it took me to take the photo (rather than walking in front of the camera). I apologized for being in the way (and honestly he could have asked to go around and I would have happily moved for him). The man working in the store immediately starts loudly talking about how “terrible” the event is with the postal worker. He comes around the corner to tell ask me to not have my dogs step on the rug (which they weren’t and I was happy to continue preventing them from doing so). But the point is that he knew I was there and immediately went back to criticizing those of us here for the event. I went in intending to buy some of the clothing products because I love them, but abruptly left because I wasn’t going to stay in the store while having to listen to someone insult me and everyone else in the town that was here for this awesome event. However rude the employee thought I was to the letter carrier, pales in comparison to how rude it is to openly talk s**t about a customer who is trying to buy stuff from your store. Like I said, I never write reviews, but this was honestly so weird and uncomfortable that I had to say something. I’ve worked retail, I get it, people are annoying and I’m sure having large town wide events makes it worse. But openly criticizing someone in ear shot is not ok, especially when that person...
Read moreUnquestionably the best customer service I've ever received. Icelantic clearly takes extreme pride in their products, as they should. Such pride became palpable after my experience yesterday at the shop/headquarters.
As someone who was once tasked with selling skis, Icelantics quickly became the easiest sell. Gorgeous artwork, handmade, and a 3 year warranty? That's all most people needed to hear (including myself.) Oh, and, their skis shred.
During the '19-'20 ski season I demoed several skis from various manufacturers prior to purchasing my second pair of Icelantics (Nomad Lite.) My aforementioned feelings were reaffirmed. They really do shred with the best. However, my second season riding them an issue arose...
The demo pair of Nomad Lites I had purchased from their shop in Golden didn't seem to like my bindings (Atomic Shifts.) I was severely disappointed after a couple crashes this season caused by the binding dismounting from the skis. I no longer felt comfortable riding them. Helicoils weren't going to quell my fear either.
Lucky for me, I purchased those skis from the BEST company out there. I went to the headquarters, explained what was happening to Matt, who subsequently helped me once again feel stoked to own Icelantics. Despite being just outside of warranty, my Nomad Lites were replaced with '22-'23 Nomads. A ski more suitable to my bindings and touring/alpine balance.
The way Icelantic goes about ensuring people enjoy their absolutely remarkable products oozes genuine passion. My experiences with them have made me passionate about their products and I want...
