I give them the benefit of the doubt on service, while the bartender was handling multiple jobs and was great with recommendations it's either short staffed or maybe just bit off towards end of night after a long day.
I first started with the charred octupus appetizer and coffee.
The coffee was somewhat strong but not too aromatic or flavorful, just fresh regular coffee. Which was not bad and wouldnt expect something too fancy from this western style restaurant.
The octupus!? Was off the charts, my only concern was an intial fishy whiff but perhaps my ultra sense of smell just adjusted . Was just that initially. I originally though the portion was tad on smaller side, however it was a good portion ,perhaps bit deceiving due to longer plate and somewhat filling as had seemed some pieces of steak and a not sure what type of beans similar to Peruvian beans base. This is the best octupus I've had. The flavors and texture were well balanced while not overpowering the delicious Octopus.
Read some reviews saying food is bland, not sure what exactly bold flavors they're seeking not all food requires bold flavors, maybe it's best to ask for dishes with strong seasoning?
When it came to dish I ordered trout forgot the exact name. It was delicious and while it came on what seemed a gigantic mountain of corn with bacon I finished every last bit of it because it was all delicious. That trout and that corn wirh bacon 5+ stars.
Since I was so impressed and despite being quite full I figured might as well have dessert not only dessert because I love ice cream and while the ice cream was normal I very much enjoyed it as I'm not into overly sweet desserts.
To clarify..never understood why some seemed to make a big deal about key lime pie. If you too are the same I think this key lime pie will make you a believer like it did me. While the key lime pie was perfectly balance and I was full the ice cream I like to think helped clean my pallette to be able to eat every bit of it as well. The key lime pie was to die for! I almost ordered the piñon seemed like something that was unique but I'm glad opted for the key lime pie and very many thanks to the bartender.
Now my very minimal gripe was my refill in coffee, my coffee also rarely do I put much sugar, besides to stay warm clean palette.
Anyways I still highly recommend this restaurant, honestly it had been a while since I last enjoyed a meal from start to end as much as this one. Chef and kitchen is...
Read moreIt sucks to give this review but this was some of the worst service I got in a restaurant in a long time. We came here for a wedding party lunch (reservation so thwy knew we were coming), they had us in a section which was great!
We had about two 8 tops and two small tables. Some of us were on a time restraint so when our waitress, Torrey came and got our drink/apps order we asked if our table could order our food. She replied that she was going to take everyone's order at once to make it easier for the kitchen...... OK? no worries. We waited for about 45 minutes and she started taking the larger tables orders.... then walked away... She didn't return for sometime and when she did it was with the other tables food. She the walked away again... After an hour and a half passed - and she finally walked up to take our food order (after everyone else is already eating) We just asked for our check, as previously stated we were on a time restraint. This is when her attitude really started to show. After she confirmed what was on our order she went and got our check - it had 4 items and only 1 was correct. We had to wait another 20 minutes before we had to WALK UP to her and ask for our check to be corrected. Her attitude continued. We explained that we are leaving bc we asked to get our food ordered and she declined bc she was going to take it all at once, she tried to back pedal and say she never said that basically calling our table of 6 liars. After we left she brought out the food for the others but completely forgot to ring in one of the meals (but blaming the kitchen) and after saying they didn't want it/pay for it she just said that it was already put in and be out shortly. She didn't say sorry once. Didn't sympathize about the rude service and her attitude. She definitely should of had help in that section but the lack of taking responsibility and having any customer service will make me steer clear of this spot and not recommend it at all. Shame because the setting is fun and the food...
Read moreI have never gone out of my way to leave a bad review, but this felt very necessary. My friends and I had a very unfortunate experience Wednesday evening that ensured I will never return to this place. I have some friends visiting from out of town, and after their 16 hour drive in, we decided to meet at this Table Mountain Grill and Cantina. We chose this place because it was getting later, 9 pm, and they were open until 11. We sat for a bit and were told that the kitchen was closing soon so we were quick about ordering. The food was nothing to write home about, but it wasn’t bad overall. After we ate we sat with some drinks to catch up. Our bartender was great and made sure to keep our drinks flowing. He then came around for last call and we had just one more drink. That’s about the time the second dude started lurking around. This man with his Gray hair and beard kept pop into the bar area giving our table the side eye. He had the vibe of a manager, but we would have never known because he never checked to see how our experience had been. Just part of the way through our final drinks, and about 30 min before they closed, he turned on the lights as bright as possible. My friend and I are both industry workers, so we know the tactics that people use to make people know it’s time to get going. HOWEVER, this is usually AFTER a restaurant closes, not 30 minutes before. As we finished up our drinks and conversation, this same man made it VERY clear he wanted us out of this business where we just spent about $50 a person at. He clapped his hands and exclaimed “Let’s go!” in frustration. We felt very rushed as they started stacking chairs and closing up shop. Like I said, my friend and I are longtime restaurant industry workers and know how it is. Restaurant etiquette goes both ways. We won’t stay a minute past closing time, but all we did was spend our money at this place and got treated like a nuisance. Unfortunately, a restaurant’s atmosphere can be dictated by one individual...
