For starters, I don't eat sushi very often and I am a pretty ignorant individual. I went with my friends and we where not terribly impressed. The waiters where amazing, atmosphere was great, food was just ok. It was a lot like what you can get at Safeway for a good bit less. You are paying for the service and atmosphere. Also, I have ate at a few sushi places and I like it a good bit, but all I can eat is vegetarian because I have an intolerance to fish. This is the only place that has made me sick, so if you are vegetarian or don't like fish, you might have problems. I guess that is kinda what I get for eating at a seafood place though. I am one isolated case so take it for what you will. I had the tofu one. If you are looking more for a place to hang out with friends, like fish, and that happens to also serve food, this place is amazing and can't recommend it enough. If you are looking for really exceptional food, I would...
Read moreMy husband and I, and our 2 kids(7 and 11) dined in on a Wednesday Night. We got sat immediately. It took the server a while just to take our order over 20min. and with hungry kids that's like forever. Everything on the Menu was 17-19 for decent rolls. and almost every item had Tuna which I am allergic too( no Biggie they can just leave it out) I'm mostly Disappointed that out of the 5 Rolls including the 4 for My kids and myself all had a very spicy sriracha sauce all over it. and the Menu didn't say that it would be spicy. So I spent 145$ including tip and my kids and myself only had 2 pieces each. And when I mentioned to the server that it's way too spicy and we can't eat it he did nothing. So needless to say we will never go back there again. And I work in ride share and when I'm asked what's good sushi in the area I will be sure to mention the other amazing spot off of Colfax with a great Menu...
Read moreI went to Okinawa Sushi and had a good time sitting at the sushi bar. The service was pretty good and we enjoyed the sushi rolls.
That being said, Okinawa Sushi is by no means an authentic Japanese restaurant. It's a bit pricey and it has almost nothing to do with Okinawa cuisine or culture. They actually don't even have the full Kanji for Okinawa on their shirt (and not many people notice either but still).
Almost all of the staff are from Mainland China and can be a little shy initially. Another poster had commented that the service wasn't great but I found it to be quite nice although not really close to an actual traditional Japanese restaurant standard.
I believe the boss is also from Mainland China and manages several businesses on the side. Regardless it is a nice spot for dinner if you are in the Golden downtown area just remember it's a...
