We came upon a sign for Buffalo Bill Cody's resting place on a long and winding road which took us to a beautiful overlook of the valley and very scenic mountain peaks plus a funky souvenir shop... We actually got a hoot out of the old west atmosphere and bought some trinkets for the grandkids.. The small town of Golden is easy to find parking and has 50 little fun shops with items of all tastes and budgets and crafts and some very artistic high end paintings and sculptures. We had lunch at a great taco sit down place and were lucky enough to hit the lunch discounts with some really good variety of Mexican fare. Read moreDowntown Golden is why I moved to Colorado. Coming from the East Coast to a place like this, I finally found a place that felt like home. The parks were great for my kids, the local coffee is awesome, and the creek is a bunch of fun.
My only qualm with Golden is how busy it gets in the summers. I don’t mind the foot traffic but I HATE to see the place disrespected and you will find a lot of people coming in and trashing up the place near the creek.
