I rarely leave Yelp reviews, but this was by far the worst customer service experience I've ever had.

I brought in three watches for simple battery replacements, something that should be straightforward. When they returned the watches to me, two watch backs weren't properly sealed, and one watch had been visibly bent and damaged.

When I pointed this out, the staff denied responsibility and insisted it was "just the opening," even though the damage was clear. After insisting that they had damaged my watch, they mentioned they would try to repair or replace it. Nearly four weeks later, when I followed up, they refused to provide any proof of repair from the manufacturer company they claimed to have contacted.

Instead, the older man became aggressive, raised his voice, and told me I shouldn't expect much since I paid a low price for the battery change. To make matters worse, I witnessed them using kitchen knives instead of proper tools to open watch backs. He was very rude and disrespectful to the point where I felt unsafe in that environment.

Now, the watch no longer fits me, and when I contacted the manufacturer, I was told it had actually been replaced, yet they lied about it. I still don't know what happened to my watch and that was what I was asking them to clarify but they were very offended by it.

If you have VALUABLE or SENTIMENTAL jewelry, I strongly urge you to go elsewhere. This business showed zero professionalism, transparency, accountability, and respect. They damaged my property, lied about it, and treated me with hostility.

Excellent jewelry repair service. I’ve used Bertha’s for a number of years now. They always do great quality work on any type of jewelry I’ve brought in. The owner is friendly and helpful, and the prices are super reasonable. They often fix my jewelry on the spot while I wait, which I really appreciate! Bertha’s has a dedicated parking lot in front of the store, so you don’t have to park on Hollister.
