Where to begin.... first off let me say that although we had a handful of "not so" good nurses we also had a handful of "AWESOME" ones! ER VISIT: First initial thought was to go to Harris in FW, but the ambulance can only take you local, so we were stuck! My mom was in a TREMENDOUS amount of discomfort and had been passing out for two days. Once we were in the ER blood was drawn and urine was taken. She was hurting, and to put this in perspective, she has Parkinson's and told us over and over again that she was ready to die. Her monitors were falling off and no one had checked on us or given us any updates. By this time I decided to walk out of the room. When I turned the corner, all the nurses were huddled around and talking. I walked up and told them someone needed to check on my mom. A nurse came in the room and proceeded to tell me that he was sorry and they were quite busy. My reply was "I just saw all of you standing around talking". His reply was, "Well, we have a special case right now." I just about DIED! I instantly became very defensive, explaining that our mom is "OUR" special case and she's in a lot of discomfort and we've been here for hours.... etc. I was so frustrated!! She was admitted for a UTI/Sepsis and stayed in the hospital for 6 days. HOSPITAL STAY: The night nurses seemed very inconvenienced and made my mom's stay extremely stressful. We had to ask for one particuliar nurse never to be her nurse again. I will rave about NIKO and ANNA - they were always kind and always available. Thank God for them!!! We were discharged and sent to rehad but had another ER visit - and another BAD experience. The nurse seemed distant. My mom was having uncontrollable diarrhea and they needed a stool sample and urine sample. It was almost impossible for her to do one without the other but she tried. I had to be the nurse. Putting on gloves, changing the bag in the portable toilet, taking off gloves and asking for more bags, putting on gloves just to do it again and letting them know we have a stool sample. Only to be told they need more. Mom is stressed, does not want to be there.... finally get another stool sample and let the nurse know just to be told they don't need it. She never came to tell us this. Mind you at one point she came into the room after I was taking care of my mom and took the bucket and threw it in the trash. Every time someone would open he trash - WHOOSH! Should of been thrown out but it wasn't. I know and I understand that things happen and an ER can become extremely busy, but when I walk out of the room to see a group of nurses talking about personal stuff, that's where I draw the line. When on the clock, they are nurses. If you can, go to another hospital! The lack of compassion is VERY obvious with this hospital and what a shame! If you can't be compassionate or have a passion to help people then find another job! I'm sure I'm forgetting about so many other issues but it's been a long few weeks. Just ALWAYS be your loved one's...
Read moreI had a CT SCAN recently and it was an awful experience! The tech, Camryn, told me she had been preparing people for scans for three years but you’d think it was her first day on the job!
One expects to wait in the respiratory waiting area for a while but my wait was longer than it should have been. I had an appt for 1:30 and arrived early to check in. I got checked in right away but that was the last thing that went well.
There was another lady who came into the waiting area, also for a CT SCAN. Her appt was for 2:30. Shortly after a man came in and said his doctor had made him an appointment that morning.
Of course we all had to drink that vile liquid and wait an hour for it to make its way into our systems. After the hour the tech came in a called the other lady. Then a while later she called the man and finally me. It should have been in the reverse order! I was going to speak up but it would have been rude so I didn’t. In hindsight I wish I had.
No one else came into the waiting area. Of course there are no clocks and I was told not to bring anything like watches or cellphones so I had no idea how long it had been, altho it seemed like more than an hour. I finally asked a doctor who was walking through the waiting room if he could flag someone down but he said that wasn’t his area. No help at all!
I finally went out in the hall and saw the tech down the hall chatting with another employee. I was furious but remained polite. She apologized profusely and even said she was so sorry she had forgotten me!
Once I finally got into the scan theater the scan itself took about two minutes and I was in and out of that procedure in minutes. I’m retired so I didn’t have to take off work but on orders not to eat anything beforehand I was hungry. In addition I have fibromyalgia and my nerve pain was at a high level due to the stress.
You can see why I gave my experience a 1. I told my doctor about it when I went for my follow up visit and she will send me elsewhere next time. The tech at my doctor’s said they hear bad stories about Granbury Medical Center all the time and will not be sending patients there any more. They did so because it’s close but will highly recommend patients drive to Weatherford, which is the next closest town to Granbury. It will be...
Read moreWe had the absolute WORST experience at the ER here. We are new to the area and did not know about the overbilling and terrible care at this hospital. And to top it off, you cannot get ahold of anyone when you call to try and work it out with the hospital. I have been sent directly to hold 3 times trying to talk to someone about my bill and have been hung up on before anyone ever gets on the phone. Finally the 4th time someone picked up just to be told that they essentially do not care & are still expecting me to pay the ridiculous bill (this is the "parent company" that owns the hospital). I understand an ER visit is not the cheapest day and quite frankly, if the care had been even half way decent, I probably would have a different opinion. But you cannot provide terrible care & expect people to not call and dispute a ridiculously high bill. I am not asking the hospital to comp my entire bill, I am asking for them to be REASONABLE. But they wouldn't know that because they won't pick up the phone.
ER Review: Went in around 7 on a Wednesday night and needed a CT scan. They are quick to get you back so that they can start charging you. I got my CT scan quickly & then we waited for the results. While we were waiting we noticed that medical staff left all our papers/medical info stickers when they would leave to go to the back room. They would be gone for like 20-60 minutes at a time. Papers full of our personal info, just sitting out on the little metal carts for anyone to walk by and see. Around 1 am, there was still no word on my results so I asked the doctor if I could be released since no one there had any urgency around the issue. They said I could get my CT scan results in the morning. I went back up to Medical records the next morning and they called the ER and they said they still did not have any results to come back "later". I went back Friday midday and they called over again, they said they had them finally. 2 days later-I am not sure if they got lost or what happened but when I got the report back Friday, it was time stamped 10:30PM the same night I was in the ER!! Are you kidding me? This further confirmed my suspicion about them loosing my CT scan results. Then of course they sent me an ridiculously high bill & are dodging me...
