The food was good but sorry to say, the service was very bad! I am not sure what was wrong with the server, he was totally inattentive, so forgetful and unapologetic! I hate to give bad reviews but this restaurant warranted it. The receptionist was good. We had a dog so they were accommodating and gave us a place to sit outdoors. The server took his time but came w/o any silverware. Took our drink & appetizer orders. Our drinks arrived and he still didn’t give our silverware or bread for the table. Then the appetizers arrived and that server who was experienced, went to get our silverware and small plates. She even commented that he was supposed to have given us. Anyway, he took our entree orders. We had ordered Eggplant Parmigiana among other things. The food arrived along with bread which was supposed to arrive earlier. Then, he brought another tray of bread. No complaints there! Our food arrived, we had ordered a lot of food since we were planning to take some to-go. My husband thought he got the Eggplant parmigiana and we all thought it looked s bit weird and hard. He takes s bite and realized that they had served Chicken Parmesan instead. The server comes back and we tell him that it was the wrong order. He doesn’t react and says ‘Oops, hope it was ok’?!? WTH! Meanwhile, we had ordered some Chicken for the Dog which took forever and the server had to reminded several times. The server came out with our bill already! He didn’t ask us wether if we want dessert or anything else! We asked him for the dessert menu but it never came! Then a lady, who looked like the manager, comes to give us a smaller size of Chicken Alfredo in a to-go for the Dog. We tell her for the mix up of Chicken instead of Eggplant. She goes saying she will check on it comes right back outside saying there aren’t going charge it only as Eggplant and not Chicken since that expensive, again no apologies! We actually wanted order dessert inspite of the server giving us the bill already but after that interaction, we said to hell with it. Even though, we had a bad service, we tipped good just because no other customer is going to be as forgiving as us and that server will need it coz he isn’t going to last much longer if he continues...
Read moreI was not sure what to expect as I’m used to homemade Italian food back in Montreal but I was quite impressed with what my partner and I ordered. I ordered ziti al pomodoro and he ordered chicken parmigiana. Both were quite good.
However, what made the experience even better was the EXCEPTIONAL and WARM service provided by Suzanna. They were very hardworking and approachable. We got the honour of talking to them after the meal, and I can say with certainty that we will be returning when I’m back in town when Susanna is working! Thank you so much for making us feel welcomed.
We also shared a cannoli and tiramisu. With this, some feedback is below:
I would make the filling for the cannoli less sweet as it is too indulgent. Also, the chocolate sirop is not needed.
For the tiramisu, I would consider adding mascarpone to the cream instead of whip cream to make it slightly more authentic and creamier
Overall, a pleasant experience ! ———————————————
update: My hub and I returned to Pastafina for a late dinner tonight, on August 25th, 2024.
We were kindly greeted by the hosts. Once we got to our seats, we were graciously served by Hannah. She was helpful and pleasant to be around.
We first started off with an appetizer of calamari. Although the breading was delicious, it was quite chewy (either the fish was not as fresh or was over-fried).
The bread was fresh, moist, steaming hot, and we enjoyed the seasoning.
As entrées, I ordered a ziti pasta with "pink" sauce (alla rosé, in italian). My spouse ordered pasta with snapper and shrimp. We genuinely enjoyed the dishes, and shared them. The snapper was fresh, not too fishy, and tasty. My pasta was creamy and delicious 🔥 Always clean the sauce on your plate with bread, which is called "scarpetta" in Italian.
I initially did not enjoy my side salad, so the lovely Hannah brought me a few different salad dressings which helped! Loved that initiative🫶 Some improvements to the salad could be to add some dried oregano, and freshly chopped basil🍃
Thank you, Hannah, for the lovely experience! We appreciated the kind &...
Read moreAte at this restaurant with my in-laws who live in Granbury and I will admit the glass of Coke I had was pretty good. Service wasn't bad either The food however is possibly some of the worst I have ever had. We are from the Dallas area and this restaurant would not survive one month there. It is obvious that very few, if any food this restaurant prepares is fresh or even seasoned. My guess is if it isn't processed, pre-packaged, and/or frozen, then they don't serve it. The owner is very fortunate that people in Granbury have no clue what they are eating is the same thing they can buy in the freezer section of their local grocery store.
6/8/22 - Owner's response of FAKE NEWS to my review is disappointing. A Google Review is an OPINION that management should consider to improve their establishment. I was told that there may not be another Italian restaurant in Granbury, so it makes sense that the customers have no idea how not good the food at this place is. Having said that, if the people of Granbury like the food at Pastafina, the owner has no reason to make it better. I would be curious to know though how many items on the menu are fresh not frozen. I am quite confident the majority of the options come straight from the freezer at this restaurant. OWNER, if you wouldn't mind elaborating on this that would be helpful to your patrons. When your employees are preparing items from the menu, do they use various seasonings, or are the items just taken straight from microwave or oven to the plate? Also, I have never been to an Italian restaurant where not even the bread has any garlic on it. I ordered the lasagna at Pastafina and after my initial bite, I realized there was absolutely zero seasoning on this dish. Again, kudos to the owner for being able to get by with the bland, potentially frozen fare at this place. It's working for him/her so who would blame the owner for not wanting...
