Bummed out. They weren’t very up front or honest about pricing (found a piece in our budget and they didn’t share the hundreds of dollars in jeweler fees until we were taking the steps forward with ordering). They tried to help us out with finding a less expensive piece to put our jewel in, which we went with (on a time crunch) - only weeks later once the out of town jewelers were ready to set the piece, they said they couldn’t do what we were told so we had them ship it back for a refund (at this point we had less than a week until the event where we needed the piece) only they didn’t ship it the next day, nor did they choose one-day delivery, and it came back even later than anticipated (with only two days before the event). Even the refund process wasn't what they’d said in that they noted the money would show up right away in our account and it didn’t (so I called a few hours later and they checked more into the process and then said it would take 3-4 business days).
They were kind and professional but each step of the way was pretty disappointing and a bummer, especially given the timeline. Grateful they offered the refund with no issues and were understanding. While waiting for the stone to return, we sorted with a local jeweler. Once the jewel was back, they jumped in and set the stone, fitted the ring, and did everything within one day so that we could have the piece before the event! We will skip working with Kay in the future and will work with the well established, knowledgeable, up front, local jeweler (with the jeweler on site, present for questions etc) who kept the stone in town and didn’t charge extra for the setting of the stone (they noted that it’s part of the price as they expect some people to bring their own stone, as opposed to the hundreds of dollars Kay charges for just the setting...
Read moreWe are newly engaged and went in to see if we could resize my late mother's platinum ring and get it cleaned. We found out we needed to go from a 3 3/4 to a 6. The associate charged us for each size needed to go up. (Which was rather expensive and as we found out is not done that way by other jewlers) She said "They typically don't go up more than 2 sizes but let's just send it to them and because they'll have it, they'll more than likely do it." Little did we know its policy for them not to go more 2 sizes and if we do, WE would be liable for any broken stones. But we were not made aware of that by the associate and they sent it off for two weeks. For those two weeks I received no email and no phone calls. We went in to what we thought was to pick up our ring, but instead where greeted by, "Didn't anyone call you?" My heart sank. Then we were made aware of the 'releasing liability if they go more than 2 sizes rule'. I obviously wasn't going to say "Sure because we need to go 2.25 sizes, go ahead and if you break the diamonds I'll pay for it. Not Going To Happen. I asked to have the ring shipped back as well as a refund. It would take another week to get it back. We were extremely mad that they had our ring for 3 weeks and nothing was done. We went to Mesa Jewelers and were able to have it done no problem and in-house and it was HALF the cost. We were so impressed we bought our wedding bands the very same visit. Overall, their customer service and communication is incredibly inadequate and your solution was 'buy another ring or make a replica'. She listened to our thoughts and opinions about what we liked and didn't like about rings, she let my fiancé and I try on any rings we wanted, and she was clear about pricing and deals/sales. The main thing we appreciated about Lexi is how we did not feel pressured to purchase anything either time we were there. Yes, she would inform us on the sales going on or coming up and when they would end, but even then we did not feel pressured to buy. We went back to her a couple different times and felt more and more comfortable with her and the decision to buy from Kay Jewelers. She is now apart of our story based on the connection we built with her. We went back to her to share the story of how my fiancé proposed and even showed her engagement pictures.
