I went in specifically looking for a quick bite to eat and some skin care products. I wasn't able to find the skin care products anywhere. Most of the vendors have had either makeup and accessories, health food and supplements, cell phone goodness, and clothing wear. Some of the shop owners seem too busy to properly greet customers. Others are kind and friendly and try to point you in the right direction. I don't know the name of the restaurant, but when you go into the main entrance take an immediate left, walk down a bit, then take and then a right. To your left you'll see a Vietnamese sandwich and drink shop. There was a short line that moved along fairly quickly. They offer delicious, well made fresh Vietnamese style sandwiches, fresh juices with fruit toppings, and a variety of baked goods and other Sweets and Treats. On this trip I tried the lemongrass chicken sandwich. Delicious!(but a little spicy with the fresh jalapeno in it) I don't know if the day that I visited was a special day, but I end up getting two sandwiches for the price of one. Yay! The egg rolls look a bit dry on the outside, but when you break them open they are juicy and fresh tasting. Also today, October 9th 2021, I could hear some type of singing going on in the parking lot to the Far West. Not sure if this is a regular thing work today was some type of Celebration. I think most of their grocery store selection caters to Vietnamese flavors, but I was able to find some of my favorite Japanese treats (Puchao, chewy candy) in the sweets aisle.
[EDIT]: so apparently one of the unidentified foods was not a dessert. At glance, I thought they were all baked goods since they were out on the counter without refrigeration. But when I got home and took off the plastic I could see that it was a spring roll wrapped in rice paper. Remembering that these had not been refrigerated, I was hoping that it was tofu that I was seeing through the translucent rice wrapper, but when I cut it in half and bit into it I could tell that it was chicken. Everything smells okay and tastes fine for now, I'm just hoping I don't get sick from the meat being out and not in a controlled temperature environment. I'll have to ask more questions and be more careful with my selections next time. The dipping sauce smells ok-ish. But tastes okay. I'm thinking I'll be fine, but if I'm not I'll make another update. The spring roll tastes pretty good. Its chicken, lettuce, and some rolled up ingredient that I'm not familiar with. Dipping sauce looks like egg is mixed in, like egg drop soup. Maybe that's what I'm smelling? When I saw that it was a spring roll I thought it would be the typical peanut sauce but it's not. Edit 2(2 days later): I ate the other food items and I was pleasantly surprised. The brown item that kind of looks like corn dogs are actually banana filled sweet "rice burritos" that are actually rice sticks/rolls fried in a sweet, sticky glaze with a long piece of banana inside. I think there's coconut in it too? The other item I got was the yellow cake with strawberry jelly swirls. It's super light and fluffy and tastes delicious I found the receipt afterwards too. The name of the place is Bistro B. I look forward to...
Read moreI stop coming here for several years due to their poor quality of poultry, meat, and the extra chemicals they put on their shrimp. Also, because the employees behind every counter in the store are so unapproachable and carry themselves as if they hate their job. Hiep Thai’s employees always have a smile and always happily greet you. Just saying..
Okay, I was in the area last week to shop at neighboring stores and decided to stop in to purchase an Asian broom real quick. It’s just a broom, should be real simple, right?
A few days later I unwrapped the plastic wrap that covered the bristle and started using it a couple of times throughout my house. It’s a new typical Asian broom and due to the material a brand new one would have dust particles coming out of it.
I decided to soak it in the tube with water a bit to rinse in hopes to speed up the process of removing these dust particles. The dust particles was coming out but so was a BEEP load of lice and MILLIONS of eggs. I’m not the type of person that exaggerate because it was truthfully an incredible amount of larva and lice. I was in shock, angry, upset, disgusted while at the same time it felt like a millions of bugs was crawling all over me. Note, I sweep the whole house with this infested broom! My whole house is infested with lice and there is larva everywhere!
After work I returned the broom back calmly for my refund. I was not going to write a review because I understand it’s not the stores fault. Then I changed my mind due to the manager’s response and behavior.
She lack concern of the issue on how their other brooms that is currently out on shelves may be bug infested as well and the need for due diligence in behalf of their consumers. She didn’t care to acknowledge to verify my claim and just kept saying its the particles. I told her I thought it was the particles at first as well. That if she soak the broom in water right now or open to look at it you’ll see there is more than just particles. She refused with no sympathy of what I’ve endured and will continue to go through until I treat my whole house and make sure all my kids don’t get lice. It could have been a simple refund but for her negligence to consumers that will purchase the infested brooms was very alarming and upsetting.
Lesson learned.
Inspect your Asian broom before purchase and to never return here again, no...
Read moreBEST Asian market in town! I love the fresh produce, the sugar cane drinks as you walk in the doors (a must try, delicious and not too sweet, refreshing)... I shop the market for my staples in cooking stir-fry. I get my pickling cucumbers, fresh dill (huge bunch), fresh garlic already peeled, makes for beautiful jars of homemade pickles! I get basil and the green onions... very reasonable prices. Love the meat market deals, get fresh hamburger meat 99 cents / lb... there's so many important things I buy and I especially like the atmosphere inside. Welcoming and helpful, or Google search what you need when you can't read the labels. I buy rice noodles, tapioca, oh my goodness... I just love the cost savings in shopping the local Asian market instead of the ridiculous "specialty foods" section at regular grocery stores... try coming inside and look for what your tastebuds salivate for! I can't pass on pickled ginger y'all... so I eat a lot of it, they have it bagged and ready. Don't forget to look for the fresh bamboo shoots... tender and tasty! For the vegan looking for tofu, come inside... in the back, fresh or packaged tofu, so much cheaper than anywhere I have seen... I won't lie, there's a fishy kinda smell that permeates the whole store, well deal with that, it is an Asian market and lots of fish and seafood too... outside of the store are restaurants and shops, many great meals there too. Truly an adventure I go as often...
