First, quality of the restaurant. Ambiance is dull and has no energy- music would go on here and there. Lots of awkward silence Restroom is a mess- random hand towels on sink, very dark, bad lighting, and only one toilet working in women’s restroom.
Now, food service and quality: Fountain drinks not complementary like the ones in Houston Ingredients not fresh- noodles are dry No wide selection of toppings to put in your pot. Everything was half empty and not fresh and dry.
Now, when we walked into the restaurant there was a sign that said understaffed. We understand. Times are tough, we are patient with these issues and have no problem waiting, or even over waiting for service. We can entertain ourselves. Like I said, we understand they are understaffed however the service was not at all what we are used to from the other locations.
We proudly go to both Happy Lamb locations in Houston and always pay the same price. $24.95 per person, fountain drink complimentary included. However at the Dallas location, it’s $24.99+ $2.5 for fountain drinks. We proudly go there regularly and have no problem paying a little extra for drinks. Now here’s the issue: when we saw the bill, we questioned the staff and tried to let the staff know about the price difference with the ones in Houston. They argued back and said they recently went to Houston last month and it was $28-30 and there’s a hidden $2.5 in there (that’s why the fountains drinks are free). I see her point, but it’s not the truth. As I was saying- no problem paying but I have a problem with staff being misinformed and providing wrong information to customers.
We are loyal to happy lamb. However, if the dallas location was my first time at a happy lamb, I would never attempt to go to this restaurant chain again. If you’re coming from Houston Happy Lamb, you’d be disappointed at this location.
Hopefully this Dallas location can improve on the small details like the restroom and quality of food, but strongly encourage the change of attitude...
Read moreTried it again almost a year later. Will never been back for several reasons. I have never been humiliated and treated more poorly at a restaurant. My siblings and I went in for dinner, ordered our soup base, meat, etc. Got our soup, drinks and everything else in a timely manner. 20 minutes go by and only one side our soup is boiling, so I asked an employee if we could make our soup hotter. I was told no that because one side had more oil thats why that side was boiling more… Right. I didnt say anything, refills came and went, they were prompt with getting us meat and anything we needed. Another 15 minutes go by and my sister’s side still isn’t boiling. I didnt want to say anything because my siblings do come here very often so I let it go. In the hour we were eating her side of the soup never boiled, and my side with the “oil” barely came to a few bubbles boil. Which I know that is not typically how the hot pot is every. single. time we have been. Anyyyyways, we suck it up and eat our dinner, make do with what we can. Not to mention they were out of several items we came there specifically for..
Keep in mind I’ve been coming here for the past two years, and have paid with Apple Pay nearly every time and my siblings have been here recently and paid with Apple pay. So we go to pay and she rather bluntly says “give me your card?”. I said “Oh, I have apple pay!” and im met with an annoying tone “We dont do apple pay anymore for a few months..”. What?? I didnt have my card on me so I ask if I can go to an ATM.. because what am I supposed to do. They STILL have the sign on THE DOOR saying what forms of payment they take?!. The employees name was VI and she made me leave my two MINOR siblings there hostage while I went to the ATM. I didnt fight it because I honestly was at a loss. In front of my siblings, in front of a lobby of people… I was treated so rudely for something they neglected to let their customers aware of!! I will...
Read moreReally really cool atmosphere in this place, if you dont go for the food at least go and hang out for a beer or sake and enjoy the building.
This is a hot pot location, in simple terms, you pick out meats, veggies and noodles to drop into boiling broth set at your table and let it cook. you can choose from spicy, original or half and half. i always get the half and half.
Food: Selection is great! different meats, veggies and noodles even stuff i have never had before that was actually good. You cook everything yourself and they are always willing to explain time limits on meats if your worried about under cooking. you pay for 3 courses and can pick as much stuff as you want in each course, honestly i dont think i ever needed anything more than the 3 courses!
Drinks: They offer regular sodas, generic beers and some pretty darn good sake for cheap. i like to come in and try a different sake every time i show up just because they have such a good selection.
Staff: Staff is super friendly, constantly refilling your drinks and your broth so you don't run out of broth to cook in. They always come check to see if you have your next order ready and are willing to explain anything.
Price: Eh its a little pricey, but its worth it for the experience! they do awesome groupon deals every now and again and its totally worth going when they do! they never have a issue letting you use groupon.
Overall: i personally eat here maybe 2x a month max, i enjoy it very much and hope they will never go anywhere! its totally different and makes a awesome date location or a group get together location.
Plus+ : you can eat and go inside the cool little hong kong mall its attached to! architecture is way cool inside their and i just like to walk around and see the different things...
