Boasting A Phd. At Purdue in entomology and he lied again to me today but My original landlord gave me truths and when unit moved out the guy in 4 showed me smears of bed bugs on the wall not painted over and no doubt the service room is not treated. My new room mates did not get news about anything before signing the lease and room 1 was at #2 treatment and 4 was informed to report just 1 bug asap and 1 said nothing till I asked him to smell my room becouse My UV is real but and the smell of ozone that once a month ( it is real but mental filters can hear me) hush and dont say bedbug and Christmas Eve 4 upset when 1 covered up bedbugs for I dont know but 2 weeks he did not go to the office after being told that you must becouse cover-up and making drinking in yout room wine everynite trumps helping everybody ln this building by being forthright and room 4 was pissed at me and spitting bullets thar he had bug from the start and told the office in his fury with me for doing what I do for Meijer and That was my passion as A boyscout but being a health-saftey advocate can get you tossed under the bus. Read moreQuality of the place is poor. And while they claim to be updating things it's been a year. Nothing aside from the lobby that they use is updated. Elevators feel like they're going to be the death of you, ventilation is non-existent in the rooms if you're unlucky enough to not have a window. It's clear that they don't upkeep as floor will legit change in type of wood on certain spots, dishwasher isn't leveled which causes issues. There's small holes in our floor. But all of that is really doable, the biggest issue is management, have an emergency? Can't call her, she doesn't pick up. Doesn't respond to voice mail. Doesn't reply to email. Takes days to weeks to get a response back even when trying to pay the place money, which is usually when a landlord is MOST responsive. Your best bet is to walk down to the lobby and pray she's there, when she's also often not. I don't know who they decided to hire, but she has to be the least responsible landlord I've ever had and that's saying something when a much prior landlord I had went through my mail, I could at least communicate with him, even if I didn't want to. The true way to get things done is to go above her, call Waterhouse apartments. My roommates have been trying to figure things out with her for weeks. Everyone knows she's unreliable, and it's a joke in the apartment complex to ask for her help in anything. Because you may as well just, forget it. Matinence responds fast, and listens to complaints when they can and fixes things. But some things are just, cheap here. For example you need a dongle to get in. The doors that read the RFID chip in the dongle? They break, a lot. Wanna do laundry? You can't, the machine you put money into is broken right now. But mentioning anything to the landlord is, iffy at best. So go around and just tell matienence, they actually want to do their job. So does Waterhouse if you call them. If, despite all this, you move here, good luck. I pray she at least...
Read moreI know people who live here. Worst apartment complex I have ever heard of for all of the following:
Dangerous environment.
They place you with random people, and if you have an disputes with the people you are moved in, Hopson Flats refuses to do anything about it and defers you to the police to solve the smallest of matters.
If you sign a lease and want to leave they will charge you an upfront fee of $500 and then charge you for each month you had left unless you can find someone else to take your apartment (which is just cruel if you are leaving because of how terrible the place is). If you happen to even want to change apartments, they charge you an outrageous $450 fee? Just to switch??
They offer no parking and a very limited (15 minute) parking zone in front of their building that they will tow your car immediately after the time limit ($300 to get it released from towing company). The closest available parking lot costs $125 a month.
Various parts of the building are constantly broken, such as the card reader to get into the front of the building, so you have to walk to the back.
The elevator and each floor smells like trash. The elevator is sketchy and does not work smoothly.
Homeless people hang around the building and will ask you to open the door for them to get into the building.
The management is rude, condescending, and unsympathetic.
All in all, despite not living here, I have witnessed or experienced all of the above by speaking to and being here to visit. I can comfortably say that this apartment exploits the poor people who live here by pinching every dime out of their pocket and providing as little as possible for their overpriced apartments. Their policies actively trap their residents into financial dependence to live here and suffer in this mess of what they call an apartment. They are...
