TLDR: They lied to me and took my money.
I showed up this past Wednesday around 6. The open sign was off but there were people inside so I walked in. The hours were posted that they would be open until 9 and people were shopping. Nobody was being greeted. If you wanted anything, you had to get the clerksâ attention yourself because the two of them were intently watching episodes of Scooby Doo. After getting the distracted clerkâs attention and telling him about how I was planning to buy a stack of Xbox games to play on the backwards compatibility features of the Xbox x, I asked if these particular games would work on the Xbox x and he assured me they would. I spent $50 and he went back to watching Scooby Doo.
I got home and 5/6 of the games I bought were incompatible. One of the games I bought even had the wrong disk in the case. (I bought Rocksmith and they gave me the disk for FIFA â14).
I went back the next day to return the games. I was told that I would have to get store credit or nothing at all. That even if the games were sold to me under false pretenses (or worse, whatever needed to be said to continue watching cartoons) that a true refund could not be issued. Maybe one day Iâll drive back out here to find something to use this store credit on but as for now, Iâbe been lied to and am $50 poorer for being a sap to these apathetic store clerks.
If you shop here, do your own research because these people are clearly not the experts youâd hope them to be. Or if they are, they would rather be...
Read moreI went to the store for 4th of July because I got an instant message saying all DVDs priced $9.99 and lower were now a buck O' five. There was a gentleman in there picking out one movie at a time and putting it back. But he talked to me about some of their movies. He told me some pawn shop down the street sells them for a quarter. When I went to pay I found out they were actually a buck O' Three, then they add tax. I had a bunch of movies in my hand and I told the guy at the counter I wanted to see the condition of these discs before I bought them. They looked them over, then put them back in the case without showing me any of the condition on any of them. I put some back, I'm not made of money, but I bought 15 DVDs for $16 and change. I had kind of a bad experience with them ever since I started going there. one time, I was trading up my series s for the series x, and I wanted to trade in my Seagate storage expansion card 500gb. They said they'd only offer me $40. Now I paid $140 for that thing when it first came out. This was before the price drop on those things. I said, where are you getting your trade in value? He told me he looks on ebay. So I looked too. eBay had it for $60 when I looked, to start with on a bid. Those numbers only go up. In fact, they skyrocket on ebay. The guy at the counter is a moron. Anyone who's anyone knew ebay actually sold them at the time like clockwork for $100. You know, the sale price of them now is still over...
Read moreGonna try to keep this brief but simply put, this place is my paradise! So many consoles spanning so many generations, so many rarities you won't find at gamestop and the only other places would be overpriced on Ebay. Hell my original DS model I got from here was $40 and the same model went for 100 on ebay, as the hulk put it "I see this as an absolute win!" Overall this place is amazing, a retro and modern gamers dream place. While the modern titles are more expensive than some of the retro stuff, and just slightly cheaper than buying it new, I mean it's to be expected but I'd be lying if I said that I was ripped off because their pricing is fair and even. Lastly the atmosphere of this place is just amazing. Everytime I step in I'm filled with childlike wonder! The employees are really friendly and fun to engage in conversation with, and hey they don't cram a membership down your throat and you get fair and honest trade in value! So in conclusion, support this place and stop in. What have you got to lose? Worse case you walk out with nothing and don't return. Best case? You become a regular like me! And in a world where gamestop keeps ruling the gaming store industry places like this need support, the Holland location just closed and this is the closest one! Keep up the good work team at disc traders and I await my next visit...
