I want to start off by saying that the store is great. The staff are lovely and they have a lot of really great clothes. Itās well organized and decently priced for the brands they sell. Iāve found great things there! However, when it comes to selling clothes itās totally hit or miss. There doesnāt seem to be much rhyme or reason to what they take and what they donāt. They state they take name brand clothing in ālike-new conditionā. I like to think of myself as very on trend when it comes to clothing and Iāve had very good luck selling to them but also not so great luck other times. The only reason I am writing this review is because of my experience selling to them tonight. I brought in what was probably $400 dollars worth of name brand clothing. Out of the 33 items I brought in, they took 11. What they took was expected but what they didnāt take was incredibly confusing. I brought in 6 pairs of jeans and of those pairs they only took 1. All of the jeans were almost brand new and name brands like American Eagle, Hollister, Madewell, and Leviās. Going through their Jean selection those are the majority of the brands they sell, so itās frustrating to see them not want to take the same brands and condition of jeans they are currently selling. I was equally as confused by the other items they didnāt want to buy. They were also name brands like Nike, Aerie, Athleta, brandy Melville, North Face, and Columbia. I understand they donāt want to take clothes in poor condition, even name brands, but these items are all in excellent shape. One of the most puzzling things was when they took one athleta top I brought in but didnāt take the other, even though it was essentially brand new and was only ever wore it once. I just wish they had a better system to help customers determine what they are currently taking and maybe an explanation as to why they donāt want certain items. Itās frustrating to have really nice name brand clothes handed back to you and then look at their racks and see the same brands and styles of clothes...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have always loved this store, but my experience yesterday, Friday, 9/19/2024, around 12 PM, left me deeply disappointed. My boyfriend and I both came in to sell clothes. When we approached the desk to check in, the first employee we spoke to was incredibly rude and told us it would be at least an hour before weād get a text that our items were ready. We returned around 1 PM, after walking around the store, but still hadnāt received a text. My boyfriend was able to collect his payment, but when it was my turn, I was told I had never checked in.
I reiterated that we had checked in at the same time, and eventually, they admitted they had lost my items. I then pointed out my basket of clothes, clearly labeled with my name, but was told it had never been appraised. Another employee mentioned that who I assume to be the manager as she had keys, had checked my clothes, but when the manager came out, they angrily asked me why anyone would want my clothes. I was so embarrassed and ashamed, especially since most of the clothing I brought in was brand new and never worn. I ended up leaving the store in tears, leaving my clothes behind.
I used to rave about this store, but after this experience, Iām not sure what has changedāwhether itās the management or something elseābut I have never been...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI called in advance looking to learn of any specific criteria or terms required for them to be able to purchase used items, she told me there was nothing in particular. So I show up with 6 bags of clothes/purses/shoes from a terminally ill parent's wardrobe in effort to hopefully receive some funds necessary for one to survive being left behind solo with numerous expenses to take on..they offered me $17. For 1 pair of shoes, out of 6 duffel bags worth of stuff. This parent for numerous legal offices for decades. while surely older. While the items were definitely not 'awful' in styling nor were they "up to date", most of all were in excellent condition (clothes+purses for sure were, while some shoes were a hit or miss I admit. Yet they purchased a pair of those for some reason...?).
It honestly feels as if people think that I am making it up whenever I mention my parent's terminal-cancer situation, and that it almost seems to fuel their disagreeable behavior with or towards myself... Had they not explicitly told me that there was no specific criteria for what the will purchase, I wouldn't be writing this. (Ended up 'donating' literally everything to 'charity'.)
Thanks, people of Uptown. You lived up to...
