Read moreI’m not sure who is training the people behind the deli counter, but they really don’t know how to slice meat. There’s one or two people that know, but in general I’ve been really disappointed because it’s like they don’t even understand how food works. I’m attaching a video of the mortadella that I asked to be sliced very thin, and it’s like I don’t even want a piece of ham or turkey cut this thick, let alone the imported meats that I consciously decide to splurge and spend money on. Like learn to respect the food you are handling. Then maybe you’ll know that serving sliced meat this thick is the worst and doesn’t do any justice to the food, let alone show respect for the animal giving its life, or for my time I’ve spent earning money to then pay for this. Guidos markets itself as a high-end grocer, and they do have lots of things, but their prepared foods and baked goods are made with cheap ingredients and so it’s not very good, so overall I’ve been disappointed because they are not living up to the level they are trying to be. And a quick mention on how rude the people are at the health/beauty section. Like to the point where I question if I’m the one who doesn’t understand basic social skills because they act like being so rude and...
Read moreWow, the renovation of this store is just phenomenal! It used to be rather small and cramped--now it might eclipse the Pittsfield store. They have a very big deli and hot food to go section with a salad bar and a large grab and go cooler. Their cafe is very nice, with an outdoor seating area as well. They even do food-related programs in the cafe. The whole store has taken a big leap up in terms of size and selection from what it used to be, with the same high quality they've always been known for. Well done, Guidos!
One suggestion: How about offering a variety of single rolls in your bakery? I made myself a salad at the salad bar and wanted a roll with it. There weren't any offered near the salad or soup, which surprised me. I walked over to the bakery section, and the only single rolls I could find were ciabatta, which is the one type of roll I really don't like because it's so dry. I would have liked a crusty Italian roll with a soft crumb, or even a soft dinner roll or challah twist. I saw a package of garlic knots, and being able to buy just one of those would have made me happy. It would be nice if, within the deli department, there were a place to grab a single roll from a...
