This review is only in regard to the skating rink. We did not do laser tag. Overall it was a positive experience and the kids had fun! Definitely pros and cons, but it is wonderful to have a fun activity in Great Bend!! I hope this place continues to thrive!!
Pros Price is very reasonable for skating and skate rentals Chairs and tables available Employees are very kind "Helpers" (PVC aids for beginners) are available to rent for $5
Cons The floor is concrete and does not appear to have any varnish, so skates don't glide as well. Concrete floors are known for being more slick, but that is definitely not the experience here. The employee leading the games was less than enthused to have those jobs. If you're going to have games, make sure the person leading them is engaging and fun. Otherwise, it just feels forced. In the time we were there, they never reversed the direction of skating. Reversing direction is helpful to prevent blisters and injuries. With limited hours, there are no designated times for different skill levels. So you have experienced skaters speeding by and doing tricks and beginner skaters scooting along and falling, all at the same time. I saw several collisions from beginners falling and experienced skaters unable to stop. It would be great to have hours for "family" skating and hours for advanced skating, with rules that keep everyone safe for both scenarios. There were skaters who were not being safe or respectful, but there was no enforcement from the employees. One grown man was speeding past young kids and in some cases knocking them over (unintentionally, but carelessly). At one point he had a PVC "helper" he was skating around with and then pushed it towards a child and it hit her. There were also beginner skaters who were stopping and sitting along the walls, creating hazards. It would be great to have an employee on the floor addressing...
Read moreI was pleasantly surprised with this place. I read reviews and have heard reviews talking about how small it is, but to me, these people are insane. For 1, there's a place like it there. Could just as easily not have it at all. Many Kansan towns don't have a skate rink, and certainly not laser tag, so be happy. For 2, there aren't that many people to necessitate a larger area. Truly this was an amazingly good experience in my opinion that ran my memories back to when I was my son's age and I was being taken to the skate rink, and guess what? That place no longer exists (the skate rink I skated at when young). It closed up when I was still young, and it was disappointing and I would have greatly appreciated a place like this one to go to. The only reason I give it 4 out of 5 Stars is because I think the schedule is insane. Beyond that,I had a great time trying not to be too overprotective as my son...
Read moreWhen reserving it was made to seem they had food, but they only have a snack bar. We ordered pizza and had to eat it in the parking lot- because absolutely no outside food or drinks. On the roller rink there’s a guy that works there that is reckless and rude- speeding around and dang near running into kids scared of letting go of the wall. Several people were loudly voicing their concerns and get nothing was done. No changing tables in the restrooms rooms, so fair...
