Over a long weekend a family member had a small injury needing to be looked at. We went to the ER and were taken into a room. A nurse took quick vitals then we waited for an hour. A nurse practitioner or physicians assistant came in, ordered x rays. 30 minutes passed x ray tech came in. 30 more minutes passed we were taken into the actual ER. The staff told us there was a break. I asked what type of break and the location. Usually imaging is shown to patients in upon request, the staff member pulled up at Google Image, not my family member’s image and said it is ‘like this’ as she showed me the Google manage her phone. We waited about another 30 minutes before someone came back with casting material. When I asked again to see the break, I was shown Google image on the phone again. Then the NP/PA splinted with casting material and said we needed to follow up with an ortho. They said they were going to schedule at Great Bend ortho, we explained we would need to follow up with our General practitioner instead . They neglected to listen and scheduled us at Great Bend ortho. We had to cancel when GB ortho called us. We followed up with our general practitioner, who could not see the type of break ER diagnosed; but instead saw a very small, stress injury. The ER casting was removed and a small splint was placed. I wonder if this is why I was only shown Google images in the ER, or if the fracture the radiologist saw was so small the bone had healed in the few days between visits.
The bill arrived at was quite pricey especially with the lacking communication and transparency with the injury and limited care provided. Had this not been a long weekend, we would have waited the day and visited our general practitioner, but didn’t want more injury if there was actually a bigger problem. I am optimistic that this hospital will work to improve their process, communication and transparency with care with minor...
Read moreMy daughter recently had ACL repair surgery. The hospital experience was good, other than the fact that she felt like they rushed her out the door while she was still barely awake. We have good insurance. Statement date was 6-28. Received bill on 7-9 for deductible and co-insurance. Due date: 7-19. Only 10 days to pay or it’s late. I don’t think 30 days would be too much to ask. Basically, the bill for the deductible & co-insurance is due on receipt, and they give you a week and 3 days to mail it back. If print date was 6-28, I am not sure why the bill took 11 days to reach me by USPS sixty miles away. There was no postmark on the envelope. They do offer a 15% discount if you pay in full. That’s good. Fortunately, I can take care of this on quick turn around, however it really annoys me they don’t give a standard 30 day window. I get the vibe that all they care about is getting the money in the door and not the people. It’s all about the Benjamins. We came from an hour away to try this hospital. My advice: Try to make sure patients/family feel like you care about them more than the cash. Consider giving folks 30 day terms. I also would like an itemized bill. No email addresses available on website. Phone numbers go to voicemail. Would be nice to be able to talk with a real person. If the itemized bill takes 11 days to arrive like the first statement I will lose my prompt pay discount, and have no time to review. They refuse to email anything. There is no transparency in the billing. I get itemized bills everywhere else, why is it so hard...
Read moreWorst hospital ever! Place almost killed me then never gave me a real diagnoses. Insisted on doing things like giving me a pregnancy test even after I told them that wasnt possible all while I couldnt breathe! No immediate concern for why I was there. My husband brought my meds up to the hospital for me after I was admitted. They allow my husband to visit then the next day im told he couldnt do to covid . Even though I did not have covid they put me in the covid hall and kept coming in my room with PPE from the other rooms. I was not happy. If I needed anything i had to wait for 45 min to 1 1/2 before it would get solved. Voicing my concern only gave them attitude towards me. When I got the hospital bill it wasnt itemized so I asked for it and it wasnt sent. I asked again to finally get it and find out they charged me for the meds my husband brought to the hospital and charged me for physical therapy. When i called to ask why I was told the dr ordered therapy and the nurses administered meds to me. I said ur joking right. They refused to correct my billing. Place is all about money and not care!...
