This pet store has such a cool range of animals and what I would consider a good place for many people to get over the irrational fear of snakes and reptiles.
Let's talk service. Quite a few times I've gone into the store and there was just nobody around. No greeting and definitely no one just waiting for me to buy something. It's a different environment if you're used to petsmart, but it's really obvious that the animals are well taken care of here. While I was confused that i couldn't find any employees and browsing I saw many people running back and forth in another room where the saltwater fish are kept.
All I heard was a very insistent employee requesting more saltwater....he seemed quite worried, but I was happy to see nonetheless that the employees don't have time to simply wait for customers to come and purchase;to be honest they seemed a bit shorthanded.
The next time I went in was today for a thermometer for my fish tank, and an employee who was available while the others were unloading a shipment bettas, lead to where I could find them. He was very pleasant and enjoyable to talk to.
I've also handled some of their rosy boas (they are so gorgeous!!!!) and I was very happy that the employee honestly admitted that the female was a bit nippy. I handled the male instead and was so happy that he didn't seem too nervous, just curious. Overall, it's a fun place to go to and where I go when I have extra...
Read moreI visited this store because Greeley is a little bit closer to where I lived than Foco and I was in a bind for time. I can't say I was at all impressed with the shop. The store is unorganized, cluttered and dark. It's difficult to find what you need and the store reps aren't handy to help you find things. I waited for 45 minutes at the front counter after asking three different guys for help without service. When I finally did get service, they didn't have the simplest thing for an aquarium (a bubble counter for CO2).
The tanks for the fish are all very poorly lit. You aren't able to see the colors of the fish or gauge how healthy they are. The prices on the freshwater fish are also overly hiked when there is a price on the tank at all. I don't know if this is because their fish are badly bred, sick, or if they are just being cheap. Regardless, I wouldn't buy any fish there. They also have no aquatic plants and have next to no selection when it comes to CO2 injector accessories.
If anything, the reptiles seem well cared for at first glance. They all had wilted greens to eat and seemed lively. Reptiles might be the only thing I would ever buy from this shop.
When it comes to buying fish and aquarium supplies, I'll be sticking to D&G Pets in Fort Collins. Their service is fantastic and their store is actually...
