Giant Eagle Market District — Local services in Green

This is a HUGE grocery store that offers a lot of hidden gems. When I'm looking for something specific for a recipe, I will try here first. They have a small Asian section that actually has quite a bit in it. While this is a great grocery store when you have time, it is NOT one you stop at when you need something quickly. The floor plan is laid out so you maximize time in the store (which is great because you're less likely to forget things) but makes it hard to run in a grab Apple sauce packets for your kiddo before school. They have a wonderful to order section offering hot food bar with fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, jojos and a few other things. They have salad bar next to the hoot food, but they also have to order Asian dishes, sushi and pizza. They also added in beer and wine tasting. They setup tables around the store and you go try different beers on a Friday night. They have a HUGE meat department that has aged beef, chicken, pork and a large variety of fish. This includes a large frozen section. They do NOT have sushi grade fish for bulk (or individual) purchase. Their sushi bar sources in some other company for sushi grade meats. Very large cheese section! They have specialty cheeses and they come in a variety of sizes. There is a very large health and wellness section here too. Lennys and Larrys cookies, caffeinated almond butter, protein powders, bars, pre-workouts and vitamins. Just stop in when you have time....

Very unimpressed that I placed an order two days ago for a sandwich tray for this Sunday. Today I receive a call saying they won’t be able to fulfill the order because they are full. Asked how they could be full when online they had numerous timeslots available when I placed the order. Woman claims that this shows multiple stores availability, not just theirs, and their store is full. Well, that’s really interesting since when you place the order the very first thing you do is select the store so if that’s true then that’s extremely poor practice and doesn’t make any sense to show multiple stores availability when you have already selected the store that you want to pick up from. So basically now I’m left with no food for my party and she told me that I could call around to other stores myself and see if anyone else has availability. This seems like something they should be doing if they cannot fulfill the order. And here is a screenshot of all the availability that was showing up when I placed the order. So somehow they went to having all these timeslots available to having none? Also, all she told me was sorry it’s their busy season. They have a lot of graduation parties. That’s fine but again why then is it showing all of this availability online and you’re claiming that...

Whenever I go there, there are only 2 checkouts with a cashier. I don't mind that at all but there are things that I purchase that I feel I need a cashier. I often buy the 6 bottles of wine for 10% off. I always need someone to do the 10% discount. Then this last trip I purchased the Cupcake Chardonnay. It was listed as $8.99 and they charged me $9.99. I purchased the Sonicare replacement toothbrushes and the had a security lock on them so I needed help with that. I stoped at Walgreens after that and found the same toothbrushes for $10 cheeper!!!! At the same time, I had the most amazing cashier - Portia! She was so kind and apologetic! She was at the first cashier, so far from all the self check out. She had to flash her sign twice to have someone help me and she had to flash for help with the previous customer. It was VERY disheartening to see that no one was paying attention!! I had to go and ask a manager to help us!!!!!! At the end of it all, I stopped at the service dest to express my concern for the non attention to Portia and found it was the same manager that didn't pay attention. I left!! What was the point?
