The Bistro of Green — Restaurant in Green

Dined here last Saturday evening- we walked in and they only had a table available in the bar, which ended up being perfect. I believe our server was Jim, and he was fantastic! Down to earth but professional and knowledgeable- also armed with a few suggestions when we couldn’t decide. He was attentive but not intrusive- just really great! Our food was phenomenal - we started with the mussels appetizer which was delicious - possibly the best broth I’ve ever had! Everyone else seems to use garlic butter, but this was a clear rich lemony broth with chopped tomatoes- so good! My friend ordered the pork schnitzel dinner special, and he loved it. I had been wanting to try chicken livers which I hadn’t had since I was a kid, and wasn’t sure if I would like them, but thought if anyone could make them delicious it would be Bistro. Lo and behold, they had an appetizer portion (more than enough), and they were very good. I don’t think I’ll ever order them again, but that’s on me- they were just something I needed to try after so many years. Unfortunately we were too full for dessert (next time!), but they had several beautiful options. This restaurant has always been a fave, we will definitely be back and hopefully get Jim as our server again! FYI I rated 5 stars for everything but the overall review came up as 4 stars when I posted it. Tried to edit but I’m not sure it’s working....

Would not recommend. Food is sub par at best. Crab cakes tasted old and the mac and cheese very salty. They advertise aged Black Angus beef on the menu ??? The large filet was very disappointing ... $30.00 . I don't mind paying the money but serve me a good piece of quality beef not one that has a taste like liver with a vein going thru the middle of it (Center cut) Dry aged as suggested on the menu??? not hardly Same on you!.. Baked potato was not baked.more like boiled? It had a dark mushy interior.. Would DEFIANTLY not eat... The french onion soup had about 4 tablespoons of broth in the cup with very little cheese on top but loaded with croutons. Complete joke.Ordered two drinks the second one tasted completely different than the first one . The sever did exchange it and explained that they have different bartenders who make drinks differently but he made this one so it should be ok which it was ? Felt very rushed and the server was not very friendly. For a independently restaurant you would have thought that someone would have at least stop by and ask how everything was but not here. There are way many better restaurants in the area than this one especially for the quality and the quantity....

Made reservations for me and 2 friends for Saturday night. We were seated immediately upon arrival into a very small, cramped corner booth. I ordered a cocktail. It came out looking very strange in color and I mentioned that to our server. He stated they were out of the certain liquor for it but served me the drink anyway. I attempted to drink it but it was terrible. I sent it back and just got soda. I was excited about the pasta dishes on the menu. So I ordered the Short Rib Ragu. It came with a salad or soup. I got a salad. It was standard. After not that long of a wait our dinners arrived. I took 3 maybe 4 bites to decide my meal was just awful. Noodles were not cooked in fact I would say they tasted old. The short ribs were mediocre at best. My friend ordered the Apple chicken and risotto. The chicken itself was watery and flavorless and it just tasted like they put apple pie filling on top. The risotto was just ok. For the price point it was EXTREMELY disappointing.
