This is an update October 2022: sadly, they’ve reduced their menu, chirashi is no longer available, the selection of rolls and nigiri is literally no different than Giant Eagle and cost twice as much. I did notice their menu still lists many items they no longer sell and the “pickup” menu is hosted by DoorDash who adds extra fees even though you’re picking it up yourself. So sad for what was once a diamond in NE Ohio.
This was our GO TO sushi spot for the last few years, but lately things have changed. COVID forced them to depend on carryout and delivery, nobody would deliver to us, I guess we were too far, so we ordered take out. Half or more times you could not even get an order to be accepted, they won't answer the phone and when you do get through, they consistently botch the orders. I'm thinking Leon may not be aware, he seems to have a much better business sense than that, but if he is, that is sad as well. Almost every order in the last year and a half has had at least one issue, from missing salads to wrong items. Last night was the final insult though, the missing item was a pricey roll, $14 to $15 range and the Chirashi was "different", more grocery style than Japanese inspired. Sadly we will be looking for a new GO TO sushi spot, we so loved this one,...
Read moreWe came in for the Sunday four-course special, and once again, it didn’t disappoint. You start with your choice of a classic ginger salad or seaweed salad, followed by either a spring roll or shrimp shumai, then a sushi roll (with about ten options), and finally, one of four ramen choices.
I had the Tonkatsu ramen—excellent as always. The pork was tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. My wife had the miso ramen, which was solid overall, but the beef short rib had more of a boiled texture and a slightly gamey, ground beef flavor that didn’t quite work for her.
The only minor issue was the timing of the ramen—our bowls came out about five minutes apart. While that wouldn’t normally be a big deal, the first three courses came quickly (within the first seven minutes), so we were ready for the ramen when it arrived. That short delay made the wait feel a little longer than expected.
That said, I want to be clear: any criticism I offer is simply meant to help a great place get even better. Honest feedback is hard to come by these days, and I’m sharing mine because I genuinely enjoy Kasai. The food, value, and overall experience are excellent, and I’ll absolutely keep...
Read moreWe enjoyed our meals, they were expensive so they should have been good. However, halfway into our meal my sister found a long curly hair mixed into her food. Instead of owning up to their mistake, the waiter plucked the hair from my sister's plate and walked around all the other food prep areas and showed it to other employees WHO WERE PREPARING FOOD! Can you scream serve safe violation? They then proceeded to come over and tell us no one has hair like that here and it isn't our fault. Then they told us we could have a desert though. Wow. I feel disgusted that I even ate this food. They must have some pretty low standards in their kitchen. I will never eat here again. I cannot believe the manner in which they handled this. I mean the waiter literally put his fingers in her food to get the hair out. Omg it is gag inducing. Someone get a food...
