I can't say enough praise about this place. I have a medium-old phone, a Galaxy S9 that for all intents and purposes, is still actually a really great phone, does what I need to do etc. Except- after many years the battery is clearly wearing out and just doesn't hold a good charge much anymore. I admit, I do miss the old days when you could just pop the back off and replace the battery...
Anyway: sure, I could have upgraded to a new phone (the S24 comes out in a week!), but man- to drop $800 just for a new phone because of a dying battery is just... WAY too much. Yeah, I'll upgrade some day but not now.
So.. what to do about the battery? I found several battery-replacement kits on Amazon, and if I was SUPER careful, there's a good possibility I could have replaced the battery myself. I have replaced batteries in GPS units and laptops, but cell phones are a different animal. I've never done one before, and truthfully, properly removing adhesive from inside a phone is tricky at best, and dangerous. If you make one tiny slip, brick. I didn't want to risk it. With my luck I'd break the screen or accidently toast the motherboard. Also, those amazon kits came with only marginal reviews as for the actual battery quality.
ENTER: The Ubreak store. I decided to give these guys a try- there are some things better left to the experts and this task is one of them. The guy in the store was super nice, and clearly VERY knowledgible. He said his tech friend in the back of the store "loved these because they're easy". And for them, it probably is!
The best thing is that this place is an authorized Samsung repair facility, so they not only use a REAL samsung battery to replace the dead one, but they also properly replace the existing inner adhesive so that the phone retains (most of) its water-resistant capabilities.
I dropped the phone off and it was ready only a few hours later. Quoted price- only 79 bucks! Wow.
Sadly.... the story did not end in my favor. But NOT the store's fault. There is something wrong with my phone causing the errant battery drain. The Ubreak guys spent a ton of time putting in a brand new samsung battery, but it behaved the same as my old one. Their best guess is an issue with the phone's motherboard which is basically, a catasrophic issue needing a new phone soon.
With a very nice apology, the store returned my phone to me with the orginal battery properly reinstalled. The phone looks exacly like it did before, no damage, no bulges, looks perfect, and works as before. They did a nice job handling the device. And because the new battery did not solve the issue, I was not charged for the repair attempt. Sucks to be me, I'm off to go buy a new phone I guess.
But all of this does not diminish my review- I'm an experienced I.T. veteran with decades of expertise in computers. It is very clear to me that these guys do really good work, are very thorough, they stand behind their work (such as in my case, not fixed? no charge). If I have a similar situation with an expensive device needing repair, I'll most certainly...
Read moreMy entire experience was incredibly frustrating and disappointing. I called this shop on 5/14/25 about a cracked screen on my Surface 7 tablet. It was still working fine—I used it daily for work—but the screen was spiderwebbed from a fall. They ordered the replacement screen and called me the next day to say it had arrived. I dropped the tablet off at the Greenfield location on 5/15/25. I was told the repair would be easy and it would likely be done the next day, but definitely by Sunday. I was happy with that estimate since I had a work trip Monday and needed the device.
Sunday came—no update. I called and was told the only person who could work on my tablet wasn’t there. I followed up again on the 22nd because I hadn’t heard anything. I was told the repair hadn’t started and I expressed how disappointed I was with the lack of communication. Still no follow-up. I called again on the 28th and was informed that screen repairs on my model are difficult (something I should’ve been told from the beginning) and that they were struggling with mine.
On the 29th, I called and was told the tablet wouldn’t stay on. The tech suggested they might need the keyboard to troubleshoot it. I told him it was dropped off with the keyboard attached. He replied, “Oh, it’s over there—I’m sorry, I’m disorganized.” Not great to hear. The next day, they told me the tablet was now completely non-functional. No repair, no solution—just that my working device was now unusable. After I pushed back, they agreed to send it to a specialist and said they’d keep me updated.
More silence. I had to call again on 6/13. They said the issue was a flex connector and a new part had been ordered. I was told I’d receive an update by that Monday. I never did. I tried calling again on 6/23, but the store was closed with an automated message. Then, finally, on 6/25, I got a text saying the repair was done.
I went to pick it up and was asked to wait because the person who worked on it “wanted to speak with me.” I waited while four other customers were helped. Finally, I was told that the warehouse had LOST MY KEYBOARD. They said they’d order me a new one for free. I asked if it could be expedited since I had another work trip coming up. He said he’d try. I never got an update.
The replacement keyboard finally came on 7/1. It was not the same—cheaper design, and it now needs to be charged, which my old one didn’t.
I am absolutely exhausted from this experience. This repair, originally quoted as a one-day job, took 47 days. They were going to return my tablet completely broken until I pushed back. I had to chase every update myself—no one communicated with me unless I initiated. They lost my keyboard and replaced it with a cheap version. And at no point did they offer a refund, discount, or anything to make up for this horrible service.
I kept my employer informed every step of the way, and they will no longer be using this shop for any company repairs. I would absolutely never bring a personal device...
Read moreSo, I spent a lot of time at this store today and I just wanted to post a review because when I came to pick up my phone there was a gentleman there who was being very rude to one of the employees and it wasn't fair at all. I wanted to post my review because should they get a bad review from him I don't want people thinking this isn't a good location.
My experience was long but, the staff is amazing. Kylie went above and beyond to work with me all while taking care of customers as well. Mychel is also super amazing. He knows a lot about what hes doing and takes the time to explain everything to you even if your not very tech savvy. lol. I witnessed him work with an older gentleman and it was adorable. I talked with them both while I waited. He'll also give u suggestions to help aid in whatever problem you have.
I know this is getting long, but here's what happened...
So, this morning I was scrolling on my phone when it suddenly froze then shut off. It wouldnt hold a charge and i couldnt get it to turn on. I called samsung and I could have sent the phone in with a quoted repair price. For some reason samsungs' automated system wouldnt take my card so I asked if i could take it to a store and use it physically. They referred me to this location. The price wasnt the same at the store as what samsung told me, but kylie suggested I call samsung and see if we could come to an agreement. I was on hold with samsung for 30 mins and she let me use the store phone to call since mine wasnt working all while continuing to help customers. we came to an agreement about price and proceeded with the repair. Mychel took over for my repair and was very helpful. They even had a kit brought from another location to do my repair. Though it didnt work and my phone no longer works I'm happy they tried and I appreciate all the effort they gave to help me.
When I came to pick up my phone however. There was a very rude man there. complaining simply because his screen protector wasnt put on fast enough. It's a busy store and the staff is wonderful. The things he said were rude and condescending. It's a busy store for sure, but they make sure you're happy with the service they provide and they do a wonderful job. Idk, but im pretty sure he doesnt understand that repairing a screen takes time especially when its busy. I've done home repair before on a cell phone and its not easy and to treat someone so rudely because it was a bit longer of a wait is ridiculous.
in conclusion I just want to say I really enjoyed the service and the other customers as I had been there so long, but it was definitely worth the wait even if my phone wasn't fixed. It was just time for it to go. ALSO; they promised me the work would be done by 6:30 but I got the call at 5ish so they were still very fast at getting the parts they needed and trying to save my phone. They did everything they could and I really appreciate that. They care about...
