Nothing Bundt Cakes: Since I don’t really recall ever eating a Bundt Cake before, it got me thinking. What exactly is a Bundt Cake? Long story short, it’s a cake baked in a Bundt pan (which is most easily described as doughnut shaped that was trademarked in 1950 by the American company Nordic Ware). Without veering on too much of a tangent Bundt Cakes were inspired by a traditional European cake called Gugelhupf. Today I have a marble Bundt Cake from MKE’s own Nothing Bundt Cakes bakery (courtesy of one of my bosses). My initial impression was disappointment because I’m a frosting guy and there looked to be a lot of open real estate on the cake. Taking a bite I was quickly won over by the rich, moist yellow cake. There are also swirls of chocolate, but the flavor was not very noticeable (fine by me as I’m yellow cake over chocolate any day). The frosting was thick & creamy with a sweet vanilla (possibly cream cheese?) flavor. Surprisingly the frosting to cake ratio was just fine for the most part. Still, my favorite part was obviously the bite I took of the massive dollop of frosting at the apex. I was incredibly impressed by this dessert and will most likely be trying some of their other cakes (the Confetti and Pumpkin are right up my alley). Being the health nut that I am, I also appreciate that their website has nutrition info. The cakes are a little pricey, but worth the occasional indulgence. Doughboy...
Read moreI was rushed as soon as I was in the door. I asked about decorations for a birthday that I saw on their website. I was told I had to buy an 8”cake to get decorations. I was shown a little flag I could purchase for the bundtlet that said happy birthday. After my purchase I browsed the store and noticed the bundlet could have been wrapped in cellophane with decorations. When I asked about it the rep said “oh you wanted that. I thought you wanted what was on the website.” She knew I was making a purchase as a birthday present and did NOTHING to help me with a presentation. Very disgusted with her. She definitely needs training in customer service. Won’t go back to that location. I was there Monday at 3:30p in case someone cares to correct...
Read moreThe cakes are great! However, the woman working this afternoon at the front desk was not nice. The entire environment of the shop is so beautifully displayed and enlightening. However, she made the purchase experience not fun at all. No smile, just a groggy face looking unpleased with being there. I’m just posting this looking out for the business! It’s a great place and I would hate for it to be ruined by people like her. All staff represent their place of work; she definitely did not deliver passion for her place of work at all. Most of all I didn’t even look like she made an effort to be friendly whatsoever. That can steer people away from great...
