I can't say enough good things about Jewelry Appraisals of NC!!!!
I called to ask if I needed an appointment and although she said I did she fit me in that day. She asked what I needed appraised and what I was looking to get out of the appointment. I was very clear with her on the phone that I was looking to authenticate a piece I bought online and that I would not be getting paperwork. Which means the appraisal is free. They only charge if you want paperwork to insure the item.
I was a little hesitant because everywhere else wanted to charge just to look at the piece. But I went in and Karen was amazing! She looked at the piece thoroughly with several pieces of equipment and went to ask her other appraiser to double check her thoughts. She didn't even ask me what I paid for the item until after she gave me all her findings and thoughts. So I know she wasn't just telling me what I wanted to hear. (A little background... I brought in an antique camphor glass necklace. The value of it is in its age and detail not so much the material. It is really valued more as a piece of art then a piece of jewelry. Because if you scrapped it the materials would be worth very little). She was spot on what I paid for it. So I was relieved that I didn't over pay. Especially understanding that a piece like I had the value is a bit subjective.
And even though Karen knew she wasn't going to make a penny she took all the time in the world to answer every last question I had very thoroughly. She even took the time to give a look at my vintage engagement ring and talk about that.
She gave me estimates to fix some things and was not pushy at all. And the price to fix the items was pennies . Furthermore, had I wanted a written appraisal their prices are very low compared to other jewelry stores.
And here is the thing folks. They are APPRAISERS. This is what they do!!! Not a side hustle for a jewelry store, this is what they dedicate there knowledge to!!!
I will forever be taking all my pieces to Karen and Jewelry Appraisers of NC for appraisals and repairs and I suggest you all do...
Read moreMy first time trying to talk to an expert about what I have. I went for an appraisal with what I had in mind, but the longer I was there and the more questions I had to ask was kind of off First what I wanted wasn't even drawn up, rushed, let alone considered. I was nervous and was ready to follow through, but I wasn't educated on what I was there for and that was a red flag. I may not know the exact details, but I do know that you guys were a little too excited about finalizing the deal. I was showed the diamonds on the Gia scale then Karen showed me some settings made it seem like i was getting a deal and then had to leave. The receipt for what I was selling that required my i.d. was written with wrong birth year and the wrong zip code. When it comes to precious items, you don't make mistakes especially on paper work. You didn't rush me at all and i appreciate the care and concern you all had in my business. As far as the other receipt she didn't ask for my i.d. and she was the 1 who would have been doing the work I was requesting. It's obvious I would have to have been a fool to leave there without my ring. In a week I would have received something that wasn't mine. Thanks for the...
Read moreTerry was terrific. This was our first Crown of Light diamond and he explained in detail the cut and that it was a recognized brand name (patented design). He answered all of our questions about the diamond and the appraisal process.
We really appreciated that he took the time to ask us about when and where we bought diamond.
While there, he cleaned my diamond ring. What a difference it made. He said anytime we are in the area to stop in and they'd clean our jewelry.
As we were leaving, we told him about all the positive reviews that we read Google prior to our visit and let him know we he exceeded them. What a terrific guy.
PS - We also met Karen, she also was very nice...
