my friend and i walked into this store just to browse and potentially make a purchase. However, our experience quickly turned sour when we felt targeted and unfairly accused of stealing.
Throughout our time in the store, my friend and I noticed that we were being closely watched by one of your staff members. Despite being mere customers, we were subjected to constant surveillance and scrutiny, which made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. However, what truly shocked and angered us was when we were approached and accused of stealing an item.
Not only were we followed, but we were also full-on accused of theft without any evidence to support such an allegation. What’s more, we observed other customers, who were white, looking at the same item without receiving any similar treatment. This blatant discrepancy in treatment leads us to believe that our experience was motivated by racial bias.
As members of the community, we value inclusivity and respect for all individuals, regardless of their race or ethnicity. However, the treatment we received at “Just Be” was not only discriminatory but also deeply hurtful. It is disheartening to think that in this day and age, people are still subjected to such unjust treatment based on their race.
We demand a formal apology from “Just Be” for the humiliating and discriminatory treatment we endured. Furthermore, we urge you to take immediate action to address and rectify the systemic issues within your store to ensure that no other customer has to experience what we...
Read moreStopped by Just Be a couple of days ago to pick up a Valentine’s Day gift for my partner, and I couldn’t have had a better experience. This charming little shop is filled with unique and thoughtful gifts, and I quickly found a lovely card and an adorable flower puzzle.
The woman at the register was incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to make my purchase feel special. After learning it was a gift, she removed the price tag, added tissue paper, and tied a sweet little bow on the bag—such a thoughtful touch!
Beyond the wonderful customer service, Just Be has a carefully curated selection of gifts, from locally made goods to artistic and whimsical finds. Whether you’re looking for something heartfelt or just browsing, it’s a must-visit spot in downtown Greensboro. I keep coming back to check what’s new and I always find something super cute to buy for friends and family.
Quick Edit: I am a person of color and have never been followed, harassed, or made to feel uncomfortable while...
Read moreThis was about the third time my friend and I have gone into this store, we are two Latina women, and I have also been a customer in the past. But the white lady working with brown hair I noticed kept following us around and just made it obvious that she did not trust us. We just wanted to look around and have a nice day out. Once we were about to leave we said bye and she accused us of stealing a bracelet, one we didn’t even touch. Hence the supposed missing bracelet was on a table that was right in front of where she was standing. She questioned our judgment and pretty much looked down upon us. She asked us to be honest, my friend and I are good people and would never commit such an act, we even offered for her to check our bags. I felt uncomfortable and there was no apology given even after returning and asking if the bracelet was found. She was still rude and dry towards us, I love and support small businesses, but I cannot support one that looks down on me and makes me feel...
