As I have said I one of my previous reviews he has the best quality 🐠 fish. He also has very good knowledge of them and is a joy to talk to. This black Angel fish is from his store. He is 31/2 years old and bought from him. I strongly recommend his store.

UPDATE : Today is 2/27/2025 I drove from PA to visit my favorite store in Hackettstown to share some pictures with Jim. When we arrived there were 3 new persons behind the counter greeting us and I began chatting and showing pictures of the big Angel fish I had bought from him when it was very small, 3/12- 4 years ago. I was sad that he wasn’t there. The girl took a picture of my Angel and she said she would send it to the owner. I agreed and said I would go down stairs and look at the fish. They should have said right then we are new owners. He retired! OMG!!! The tanks were shabby looking there were hardly any fish except for Guppies Goldfish and Gouramis. The names of the fish didn’t match what was in the tanks. I said right then and there THIS IS NOT JIMS STORE!!!! What a shame! Jim always had good quality fish, good knowledge of fish and plants and his aquariums were always well taken care of.

This used to be a great pet store with an amazing fish section downstairs filled with tropical and saltwater fish. They had reptiles upstairs with tons of decorations for your displays and a lively upbeat owner who would guide you through the process. That’s why it’s so sad to a place that I have so many memories with (I got my Uromastyx there 15 years ago and started my aquarium 10 years ago) go so far down hill. Now the fish tanks are falling apart, no reptiles and the shelves are almost empty. If the sign out front is an indicator of the trajection of this business, then it will surely be gone very soon. I truly hope they are able renovate and turn this place around, but every time I pop back in there, it just keeps getting worse. I want to support local, so please get working on getting it back to what it once was so I can shop...

The people at Hackettstown Pet Supplies are one of a kind. My family and I moved into this area about 6 years ago and went around to a few big name stores before we found this place, conveniently just a few blocks away and have never gone anywhere else since for our supplies. Jim, the owner and operator is a great guy and very knowledgable...plus the rest of the staff are extremely helpful, courteous, friendly and very helpful. They special oder things for me if not in stock at the moment and I've had nothing but positive experiences in their shop. They truly care about the animals and people of the area and it shows. Great job guys, keep it up. It's been a pleasure shopping...
