TOPO(the old post office) is a delicious spot to eat at. Entering the restaurant the vibe was diner like which was homey to NJ. When we were seated the waitress scrubbed our table which felt clean until it got sticky. I just wish it was a bit more smooth. Ordering drinks was good but warning no free refills. I got water, and you can actually get it at the table. They have a small spout which I find handy. We ordered the Topo sampler as an app which consisted of egg rolls, spring rolls, tarp egg loaf and dumplings. The sauces complemented the app very well and would order again. As an entree I ordered the Shrimp Clay Pot which was very fresh with all the vegetables. The shrimp and glass noodles were very hot, temperature wise. While that was cooling off I put the sauce on the side of rice for taste. Absolutely amazing, it was not greasy and caramelized very nice. I wish the Clay Pot dish was served in a Clay Pot. The metal pot was very aesthetic tho. For dessert, we ordered the chocolate rum cake but the waitress served us the crème brûlée. She must’ve forgot, since she was the only waitress. The crème brûlée wasn’t typical tho. The top didn’t crack like glass and the inside was not like a flan but more of a custard. It was good otherwise. We also ordered the strawberry sticky rice too. This dessert was good since there was not too much sugar. Seeing pink rice was surprising. While we were waiting for the check, my seats were moving tho. The next table over was getting out and pushed the whole seat. The seats are not grounded to the floor. It would be nice next time if they were grounded. Overall the experience was good and would come back next time I am in...
Read moreIt pains me to have to leave a negative review in such an unstable climate for small businesses right now, but our experience the other night was unacceptable. We first entered and there was one table walking out, every other available table was dirty and not cleaned off. Upon my trip to the bathroom I noticed a rather large cockroach near the door in the dining area, and was pretty peeved but at that point we had already ordered. Our food arrived and lo and behold, a small dead cockroach floating on top of my pho. Informed our server immediately and left. The service has always sucked here, as the staff seem to be teenage cellphone zombies who would rather sit at a booth texting than cleaning their tables or providing decent customer service. The doorbells on the wall next to the booths are clearly a testament to how much is expected of them as far as friendly service goes. We originally enjoyed the food here, but have noticed a serious decline in quality over the last year. We assumed the pandemic affected their ability to provide the same standards as they once did, and we were happy to continue to try to support them during difficult times.
But cockroaches IN THE FOOD is unacceptable. And judging from the number of other reviews on the same complaint, this seems to be a longstanding issue they have no intention...
Read moreSoo I visited today Sunday the 2nd June. I have eaten at 80-100 different Vietnamese Pho places up and down the east and west coast. This is not Pho at all. I orderd the seafood Pho with a side of extra noodles. When the waitress took my order she asked did I want the beansprouts and limes. First time ever asked. I should have picked up on that. When the beansprouts/jalapenos/lime/basil arrived i noticed that the beansprouts were mushy. I asked and the waitress who informed me that there are boiled!!!!!! They resembled a plate of dead worms. Not visually appetizing at all. People eat woth their eyes and well all I can say was yeuch. There was miniscule basil and some leafy thing that was unrecognizable and tastes like old grass. The soup arrived and immediately I noticed a strange odor from the soup. It was brown and murky and had a very peculiar taste. The seafood was ok except for the 7 huge mussells in it. I could NOT get my waitresses attention. There were only 3 tables in the entire restaurant. Their Pho is like comparing a mini van to a Lamborghini. Sorry I still have the strange taste in my mouth 3 hours later. Stick to the real Vietnamese restaurants on rte 46 an give the faux Pho a...
