Pandan Room — Restaurant in Hackettstown

I brought a friend here last night to see if he would be as impressed as I always am. I’m a regular and come every other week. The food is outstandingly (incredibly creative and delicious), the service is invariably superb, and I’m treated like family, which really means a lot. And that’s not because I’ve been coming for so many years; it’s because that’s how they treat their customers, and I see it when people around me are being waited on and served. My friend thought everything was phenomenal: the portions were tremendous and he told me that this was the first Asian restaurant he’d ever been to where they got the spice level just right when he asked for his food to be served extra hot. They were packed, but he was particularly impressed by how quickly people were served without being rushed. People who wanted to linger lingered comfortably. Special compliments, as always, to Ashley, who is a flawless server. Throughout the meal she anticipated our thoughts and brought us exactly what we wanted and needed, and when we did have to ask for something, it was brought immediately, and always with a kind word and a smile. Went out with the family on a rainy Saturday night. I was expecting a good taste because of the reviews and it does not disappoint. We started out with the house sampler which included 2 eggrolls, chicken, dumplings and 2 empanadas(prob called something else tho). Initially we thought we were getting the Pandan Room Sampler but the waitress messed up. The waitresses might mess up Becuz it gets very busy. Only had 2 waitresses and the host helping out from what I saw. Otherwise the sauce with each app was delightful. For the main course I got the Panang Seafood Noodle Dinner with Medium heat. This dish was amazing Becuz their was a variety of seafood and the sauce complemented the seafood very nice. It was creamy and not to pastey. I couldn’t finish the rice noodles tho. The fam and I finished with the Java lava cake which tasted like it was cooked the day before; I thought it tasted rubbery. The peanut butter rolls are the dessert not to get. It’s an egg roll with just peanut butter. What saved the dessert was the raspberry sauce with both desserts. If that sauce came with icecream I would’ve gotten 2 orders. Hope you enjoy this review. My family has been there For years! The tall blonde girl had been an amazing waitress and fulfilled our dining needs…went and did not have same waitress…not satisfied, had to ask for silverware, straws, plates. So unlike the many times visiting this establishment!, also Kids rice came out like a hockey puck! We have always been pleased! I am 55 years old, have been there and back when it comes to “eating out and service” The tall blonde girl is the waitresses friend as I was told…I asked for the owner so I could explain my disappointment…prior to that i is see the waitress laugjhing w owner and chef as is this was “fummy”, knowing she knew our service was terrible! When i brought it to the owner and “other” waitresses attemtion, Her explanation was, shes “new” and didmt know! We know we have seen her before! Come on…not born yesterday and not wasting our money on poor service…the other waitress stood up for her and with that made is not want us to visit this “thai” place anymore! We never left a tip! Horrible service if it wasnt for owner and the waitress that we loved!
