Rico Pan Bakery — Restaurant in Hackettstown

We stopped in here on New Year's Eve and the sign said they were open for half an hour more. So we still comfortable going in knowing we weren't going to be there at the minute. However immediately upon ordering things we got an attitude from the lady working here that she was in a hurry and wasn't happy the customers had walked in a half an hour. Mind you this is a bakery everything is already baked all they have to do is hand is the items we pay and we leave. In fact one of the things I got was an M&M cookie because I thought it would be a nice tie-in considering they were doing the M&M drop for New Year's Eve. Unfortunately I did buy that because it was rock hard! Absolutely an unedible object. Maybe they just leave them in there until they sell? We were going to actually spend more money here but after ordering the first couple items realized that we are being rushed out the door and decided not to buy anything else from this bakery.

We visited literally thousands of places to eat in New Jersey. And yes sometimes we entered before closing and most places are very accommodating. Sometimes a simple thing as "We're closing in half an hour just to let you know," is all you need to say.

But instead you took an attitude to us coming in and ordering things. So for that we'll never be back here and we don't recommend anyone going here as well.

Most places can get a pass if they have either great food or great service but you had neither.

The empanadas, as others have noted, are superb. Crispy and clean outside, rich, flavorful and moist inside. Their hot sauce is so good I literally want to drink it. Service was friendly and the employee and myself are bi lingual and she explained the products in English, though I personally would have been comfortable with an authentic Columbian restaraunt menuing and ordering en espanol. absolutely amazing selection of treats and main dishes. large portions and great prices. on a personal level,I'm half Puerto rican and often get anxiety about using Spanish,but they fully encouraged me to do so,and communicated in English when i couldn't quite nail the request i was making. Wonderful place...id give more stars if i could and will be a regular customer...
