I bought a new Honda HRX217 200cc mower last year at Lowes because I learned Honda wasn't going to make mowers in the US any more after September of 2023.
I've had an issue with the Chip Director on the mower when fully engaged in the mulch setting. This same issue exists in online forums where owners are complaining about grass clippings accumulating in the back shoot of the mower that dumps a pile of grass clippings on your lawn when turning corners, etc. The chute has a gap and isn't closing all the way... so clippings pile up and dump periodically when there shouldn't be any clippings there at all.
I registered my Honda mower for warranty and Honda told me that Grower Equipment and Supply is an authorized service provider. I've called Grower Equipment a couple of times prior to today and was told their techs could look over my mower and determine if an adjustment is required or perhaps learn if a part wasn't manufactured properly.
Today I called Grower Equipment and asked if I could drop off my mower today to have it assessed. I was told to bring it over and they closed at 5:00 PM. I arrived by 4:10 PM after spending almost a half an hour in traffic. I wheeled my mower up to the front door and walked in and I spoke with Dan to give him an understanding of what was going on with my mower. Dan told me the techs have already gone home today but he would take a look at my mower to see if there was anything obvious causing the scenario I explained.
Dan put my mower on its side while it was on the concrete pavers outside the front door of the business and my immediate concern was that he was scratching up the right side of my mower deck and handle. Sure enough, when he returned my mower upright, there were scratches all along the right side of the Nexite deck as well as on the side of the handle. I spent $1000.00 on this Honda mower that I have taken excellent care of... never once brushing up against window wells, patio steps, or anything that would damage or scratch my new mower. Then, along comes Dan Verley and he damaged the right side of my mower deck and handle. This is unacceptable!
I did not address this with Dan because I didn't feel like interacting with him further other than to go back in and get his name. I asked Dan if the techs could assess if there was anything they could do to address the chute not fully closing on the Clip Director and then Dan tells me they are backed up for two weeks, so they won't be able to look at it for a while. I asked if they could schedule a drop off at a later time so I could still have my mower available for the next couple of weeks. Dan said they don't schedule appointments, but they will probably be less busy in a couple of weeks, and I can check back with them.
So, I drove an hour round trip for a complete waste of my time, fuel, and Dan messed up the side of my mower. This is complete B.S.!
Not only will I not be going back to Grower, but I'll tell my friends, family, and clients to stay the heck away from them. My Dad bought a commercial Ariens snowblower there several years ago and I've regrettably sent them thousands of dollars' worth of sales and service referrals since then.
Why in the heck was I told I could drop my mower off this afternoon... only to be told when I got there that they wouldn't be able to address anything on it for at least 2...
Read moreDidn't have the fondest experience. Came in early/mid October to have a snowblower repaired. Was told they will have a quote/inspection done within two weeks. He said it if it's a belt/carb clean that will be $150 but could be more depending on what they find. Understood. FOUR weeks go by (it's right before thanksgiving) and I call and check in. I get a response "Oh yeah yours is next in line!" What a coincidence eyeroll. They call a few days later and tell me what it needs and that it will be $221. I know my blower is basically worth $200 so I remembered the price as I thought back and forth on it but ultimately just needed something for the winter months so reluctantly proceeded. They said it would take a few weeks. So now ANOTHER FOUR WEEKS go by and I have to call again and check in. "We were waiting on parts to be delivered but they just came in today!" WHAT A COINCIDENCE I SHOULD GET A LOTTERY TICKET WITH MY LUCK THAT I HAPPEN TO CALL ON THE DAYS THEY CAN START WORKING ON MY MACHINE I PAID THEM TO FIX. eyeroll. The machine gets fixed two days later. I go to pick up and pay. "That will be $275. Im internally fuming as that was not the price I agreed to. He sees I'm visibly distraught and I mention the price was $221 on the phone. He offers to take off half hour of labor costs. The cost magically was $221 again. I felt conned as they seemly added more hours of labor onto the machine. They did help me load my heavy machine into my car and were polite but I won't be going back here...
Read moreI purchased a snowblower from Grower and it had an oil leak. I contacted Grower and they picked up my snowblower the beginning of October and stated it would be 2-3 weeks. They did not order the part until December and it's now December 19th, almost 2.5 months since the pickup. I called this morning and asked for an update, miraculously the repair was complete. The guy I spoke with said I would get a phone call to set up delivery.
About 30 minutes later, I missed a phone call as I was at work, I literally went to answer it and it just stopped ringing. I immediately call back and was able to set up delivery for later in the day.
Here is where the issue begins. Once the call was completed, I get a notification that a voicemail was left by the guy at Grower. The voicemail I received was vulgar and completely unprofessional. I will provide a photo of the transcription by Google.
When I called, the person who left the voicemail said it's frustrating because he has to make calls and that most people never answer. I asked to speak to a manager, and 3 hours later, I have yet to receive a call leading me to believe this is behavior is encouraged at Grower. I will no longer return and advise you to take your...
